I have a 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce in English Green that I am parting out. The rust is pretty bad, as this vehicle sat outside and uncovered for a long time. Basically all the lower panels are rough. Side sills, lower rear quarter panels, both floor pans and the spare tire well have a lot of rust. The car itself was not running when I got it from the previous owner, and I replaced the battery, fuel lines, fuel pump and filters and the motor ran well, and it handled beautifully in the brief time I was able to drive it. I was hoping to fix it up, and spent some money before realizing the extent of the rust, so I bought 4 new tires, replaced the vacuum lines, stuff like that.

The interior is rough. No carpet, seats are rusted through, dashboard has a few big cracks. I have all the gauges, which function as intended. I have the console warning lights for sale too. Wiper switch, ash tray, etc.

All glass intact, windshield has a big wiper scratch. Doors are rust-free, interior door panels are pretty faded.

Lucky for me the car came with an OEM Alfa hard top from a newer model Spider. The outside of the top is in okay shape. There are a few deep scratches, but it is straight and dent free. A little bondo and a new coat of paint and it's perfect. All hardware works great. The interior of the top is in much better shape than the car, no tears/rips. There is a light, but my car didn't have a plug, so I don't know if it works.

Mechanically (without the rust), the car is in good shape, with a few fixable problems. The passenger spring seat is collapsing, so the car leans a little. The fuel tank needs to be cleaned and resealed.

I have five Cromodora Turbina wheels, which are in rough shape, but 4 of them have brand new (2013 date code) tires on them. They're 185 70 14's and fit the car great!

According to the previous owner, the transmission was rebuilt. When I got the car running I changed the motor oil, and the gear oil with Shell Spirax and it shifted nice and smooth. I have a good stack of service records (mostly from the 90's), as well as some photos of when the car was in much better shape (15-20 years ago). This car did suffer from the Alfa head gasket failure, with oil in the coolant.

I've have a lot of the small/medium parts already removed from the car, as well as the cylinder head. The block, trans, rear end, suspension, wheels, rear brakes are still on the car. I have everything except what is listed below.

I have already sold:
Ignition Switch
Aux Fuse Box
Sun Visors
Fuse panel cover
Radiator
Heater Core/levers/blower switch
Wiper Motor
Wiper Cowl

I have posted this car locally on Craigslist, as well as on AlfaBB.com, which may be more updated (link below to post).

Let me know what you need! I may have it listed already, so check my other auctions! --->>>  http://www.ebay.com/sch/Parts-Accessories-/6028/m.html?_ssn=johns13193

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus

Alfa Romeo considering Ferrari-developed engines for new product lineup

Sun, 06 Apr 2014

A report in Bloomberg adds more details to the plans for Alfa Romeo's fourth turnaround plan in Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne's tenure, and this time Ferrari is apparently going to be part of the show. In December Automotive News Europe reported that a new Maserati-derived rear-drive architecture would be the centerpiece at Alfa Romeo, as well as coming Chrysler and Dodge products. At the time, ANE said the platform would support a new midsize sedan and wagon perhaps to be called Giulia, a fullsize sedan and a midsize crossover, with retail appearance of the product initiative commencing perhaps as soon as next year. It would be part of Fiat's $12.3-billion spend on new models and European recovery.
The Bloomberg report says that particulars haven't been finalized, but the plan is to have six new Alfas appear over the next five years, two of which would be SUVs. The futures of the Mito and Giulietta, two of the three cars Alfa currently sells and 99 percent of sales last year, aren't assured, meaning that the lineup in six years could be seven cars (including the 4C), six of which we haven't any definitive clue of yet. The top-tier versions of those cars, according to the report - perhaps the Quadrifoglio Verde - "will be equipped with motors developed by Ferrari."
Marchionne wants to get sales up to 300,000 units per year when the lineup is complete, pairing Alfa sales with Jeep's global dealer network to open up the retail channel. That kind of volume would get Fiat's Italian plants back in business properly, even though Marchionne's stance on Italy-only Alfa production would mean the end of the anticipated roadster that was to be twinned with the coming Mazda MX-5 Miata. Alfa's direction will be laid out in Detroit in May as part of the overall strategy presentation for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV.
