Alfa Romeo Spyder Quadrifoglio 1986, Excellent Condition, Low Mileage on 2040-cars

Year:1986 Mileage:73432
Location:

You are bidding on an absolutely beautiful 1986 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Spider that is in excellent condition with 73k miles. The car runs and drive absolutely beautifully. It fires right up and the throttle is extremely responsive, the brakes are powerful and has a firm pedal, the suspension is very tight and the car handles beautifully.  This car has a spectacular look that grabs everyone's attention.

This car includes the original factory hard top which has rarely been on the car and looks fantastic.  Along with the hardtop, I have the original Alfa floor mats, the original Alfa bra and toolkit and owner's manual.  The leather is in very nice condition – no tears, cracks, fading or pulled stitching.  The dash looks great (no cracks).  The carpet is the original and in very nice condition, there is some staining of the carpet in the trunk.  I believe that the Robins vinyl top is original, and is still in decent shape.  The A/C does not work (blower fan does not run), but everything is there if you would want to get it back in operation. Likewise the defrost fan is not operating.   All of the gauges, signals, and electric windows work well.  The car has an aftermarket Nakamichi radio/cassette with CD in the trunk and four Kenwood speakers.

This is an extremely reliable car. The engine starts right up and runs smoothly with excellent oil pressure.  The transmission shifts smoothly in all gears and the clutch feels great and is not exhibiting any slipping whatsoever. The four disc brakes stop the car smoothly and in a straight line. Steering and suspension are tight.

I have maintained this car since I have owned it and know the previous owner who babied the car while she owned it.  I have replaced the exhaust (factory specs), four new tires (OE size Bridgestone) and four Bilstein shocks.  The body is in excellent condition with no rust anywhere.  There are couple of small dings. The paint is in good, but not perfect condition – a little hazing in a couple of areas.  This is a great driving Alfa that is truly turn-key and can just be driven and enjoyed.  It is clear from the condition of the car that this has been an adult owned vehicle and has been kept out of snow and in a garage.

Classic Alfa Romeos (and especially Quads with the factory hardtops) are getting more and more collectible and are quickly on the rise. This car earns lots of thumbs up everywhere I go and is a pleasure to drive.  If you are looking for a very reliable, well maintained low mileage Alfa that look and runs great and don’t want to spend $10,000, this car is a great choice.  I have set a low reserve so that it will sell in this first auction.  Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

Marchionne threatens to move Alfa production out of Italy

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne was unsurprisingly frank when asked by reporters about potential investments in Italian manufacturing for Alfa Romeo and Maserati, giving the Italian government the ultimatum, "Italy should decide if they want [Alfa Romeo's relaunch] to happen here or not as Fiat and Chrysler have several alternatives." Them's fightin' words.
Fiat's issue with the government stems directly from its courtroom clashes with the Fiom labor union. The two are currently embroiled in proceedings over longer shifts and shorter breaks, as Fiom has so far refused to sign a new contract citing revised labor laws that it says are anti-union.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat will be spending over $2.5 billion on development of eight new Alfas and six new Maseratis, in a bid to wrest some of the luxury pie away from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. But that's only going to happen if the government is willing to play ball and make life easier on Fiat.

Mazda and Fiat finalize deal for Alfa roadster, next-gen MX-5 Miata

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

Although a little bit later than expected, Mazda and Fiat have signed a final agreement that will bring a next-generation MX-5 Miata to the Japanese automaker and a new roadster to Alfa Romeo. When the proposed arrangement was announced back in May, the two automakers had hoped to seal the deal last year, but it doesn't appear that the production timeline for these cars has slipped any, with both expected to start rolling off assembly lines in 2015.
Other than a shared chassis with a rear-wheel-drive layout, it sounds like the two cars are still planned to be distinct in their own ways from their styling right down to their engines. Mazda will produce both cars at a plant in Hiroshima, Japan, but it isn't clear what role each automaker will play in the cars' developmental process. The big question, of course, is what clever portmanteau name we can come up with, like Toyobaru. Mazda Romeo is the easy choice, but Alfazda might roll off the tongue a little better.
Scroll down for a brief press release from both automakers.

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus
