Yes, this pristine BMW is a manufacture's buy back car - let's get that mentioned first.  I purchased this car 1 year ago knowing that the original Georgia owner had (2) High Pressure Fuel Pump replacements and one instrument panel replacement on the car in under 3,800 miles.  BMW had a serious problem with high pressure fuel pumps for a few years and it was not uncommon for them to replace them more than once on a vehicle under warranty. They were finally re-designed and that is no longer an issue. As a BMW Car Club Member, that sort of thing didn't bother me as parts modules can be replaced and this vehicle has a full BMW warranty through September 2015.  Since I have owned it, I have put apps 10,000 trouble free miles on it.  It has been to BMW Service exactly once for oil and filter change, micro filter change and new windshield wipers all under BMW's maintenance program and done at no charge.  That continues for another 18 months as well.  I replaced both of the rear tires on the car at 9,500 miles with the correct BMW-Approved Bridgestone Run Flats, as one picked up a nail and I don't believe in patching tires and always do both on an axle at the same time.  The car is in excellent condition, freshly waxed with Zymol Carbon and Sealant on the paint.  The only flaws on the car are slight curb rash on two wheels.  Leather is treated regularly with cleaner and conditioner, and the car is hand-washed weekly, as well as always being garaged.  60-year-old adult owner, this car has not been flogged or modified in any way and is 100 % stock.   Has all  options in 2012 except for the Technology Package.

OPTIONS INCLUDE:

*  Leather interior
*  Heated Seats
*  /M Sport Package
*  Dynamic Xenon Headlights
*  Moon Glow Convertible Top
*  XM and HD Radio
*  DCT (Dual Clutch) Transmission
* Auto-Dim mirrors and ambient lighting
* Homelink Garage Door

This car is a joy to drive, powerful and responsive.  The Dual Clutch Transmission (not available in the 128i) gives lightening quick shifts without the drag of a torque convertor.  This car needs nothing and is ready for spring top-down weather.  Remember the BMW factory warranty is still in effect and that includes all scheduled service + loaner car if needed for another 18 months.  I have clear title in hand.

Watch two championship-winning DTM cars from BMW go head-to-head

Mon, 06 May 2013

BMW recently had a little fun with two of the company's past DTM champions. Roberto Ravaglia and Bruno Spengler, winners of the 1989 and 2012 championships, respectively, both showed up at the world-famous Hockenheimring with their title-winning cars. The two swapped seats, with Ravaglia taking the helm of Spengler's BMW M3 DTM racer and Spengler sliding behind the wheel of Ravaglia's first-generation M3 racer in the classic BMW Bank livery, and headed for the track. Spengler got a 23 second head start in the first-gen M3 with Ravaglia chasing behind.
It didn't take long for the older hotshoe to sort out his new ride and close the gap. The short clip below follows the two as they make their way around the circuit, but the really interesting portion comes when the pair begin discussing what they like and don't like about each other's machines. You can check out the full video below for yourself.

KBB 2013 Brand Image Awards has some obvious and oddball winners

Sat, 30 Mar 2013

The sixth edition of the Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Awards have crowned a wide range of winners - in a couple of cases the recipient of the laurels might say more about KBB users than they do about the actual winner. Compiled from the responses of more than 12,000 shoppers on KBB.com over the past year, there are 13 categories broken into non-luxury, luxury and truck segments "representing the combined wisdom of the American car-buying public."
The award categories have been revamped this year, with some dropping off, some new ones appearing and at least one other given a new term. What isn't surprising is that Honda won Most Trusted Brand for the second year running, Best Value Brand for the third year in a row and took Best Overall Brand, which wasn't on last year's list of awards.
On our own shores, in the non-luxury categories Chrysler got Most Refined Brand and Buick took Best Value Luxury Brand. Neither one of those marques won anything in last year's Brand Image Awards, while Cadillac, which won Best Interior Design Brand and Best Comfort Brand last year - those awards disappeared this year - went home without a single accolade.

BMW puts a sheep in wolf's clothing with 2 Series Active Tourer M Sport

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

BMW is charting new territory with the 2 Series. No, not the two-door model - that's just the kind of rear-drive coupe for which the brand is known. But the Active Tourer (which only shares its series designation with the coupe) is a front-drive tall hatchback/MPV category buster, and that's not exactly what comes to mind when you think of Bimmers. As such, the 2 Series Active Tourer is bound to turn off some of the brand's faithful, but this latest M Sport kit could at least ease the pain somewhat.
The sport package for the Active Tourer packs all the usual suspects: a more aggressive aero kit, retuned suspension, blacked-out grille, 17- or 18-inch alloys and an interior with sports seats trimmed in blue-stitched Alcantara. Top all that off with an Estoril Blue paint job and you've got a compact family hauler that might look the part, and maybe handle a bit tighter, yet it naturally stops short of the full M treatment (or even an M Performance spec like you'd find in the M235i coupe). All of which is probably just as well, because that might be the only thing BMW purists would object to more than the existence of a front-drive BMW MPV in the first place.
