This 1973 2002 has lived its entire life in California. Purchased in Los Angeles in 1973, and now in Sacramento. The driver's seat needs to be replaced (I can help you find one if you want stock). Otherwise, clean interior. Very small crack on dash. Stock steering wheel with no cracks. Car has just over 101,000 miles on it. Zero rust on the body. Very straight body, recent Agave Green paint job done in SoCal. No rust in spare wheel well or on shock towers. Engine is strong with no issues. Transmission works fine--factory four-speed manual. Factory sunroof, factory air-conditioning by Frigiking. Blaupunkt AM/FM/Cassette radio that actually works. Original tool bag with tools, factory jack. Stock wheels with stock BMW hubcaps. Original factory sticker, Frigiking instructions and manual. Lots of maintenence records going back to 1973. This car drives great. Were I to keep it, I'd put in a stock driver's seat, fix the front speakers, and drive the heck out of it. However, I found a nice tii so this Roundie has to go. X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead
Thu, 14 Mar 2013BMW managed to eke ahead of Audi for the global luxury sales crown in February. According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.
Will global automakers drop local JV partners if China's government says they can?
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Chinese economic policies could be in for a big change, as President Xi Jinping pushes the communist country to open its domestic markets even further. That could mean big things for the auto industry, especially when it comes to the country's far-reaching joint-venture system.
According to Chinese law, foreign automakers may only maintain a fifty-fifty partnership with their domestic counterparts. But with Jinping's push for openness leading to potential free-trade deals, that policy could be relaxed (or eradicated all together) in short order. What's an automaker to do?
Well, in BMW's case, stay the course. Automotive News Europe reports that, despite the grumblings about the JV policy changes, the German manufacturer has resigned its agreement with Brilliance through 2028. This is made doubly remarkable by the fact that BMW signed the extension over three years before it was set to expire.

Fri, 05 Jul 2013Pour some out for the BMW M3 Coupe, folks. Production of the two-door, fixed-roof M3 has officially ended, and the orange car you see here is the very last one.
But we don't just meant the last M3 Coupe of this generation - this is the last M3 Coupe ever, since the next-gen car will launch under the name M4, staying true to BMW's revised nomenclature where coupes and convertibles will use even numbers. (Don't forget, the new 3 Series coupe becomes the 4 Series for the 2014 model year.) There will, of course, be a new M3, but that badge will only be found on the four-door version.
BMW first launched the M3 Coupe in 1986, and since then, more than 40,000 examples have been built. Sedan and convertible versions were added later in the car's life, and BMW says that the current 2013 model year convertible will remain in production until September of this year.
