I am selling my 1983 320i E21 ALPINA clone.  I am selling it as an ALPINA clone, because I am not sure if it is a real Alpina or not. None of the BMW Dealerships could confirm or deny if it was a real ALPINA, including North America BMW. It was originally sold at Long Beach BMW (CA Car) Clean Title! It has an Alpina vin tag where it would be if it were an ALPINA, and the previous owner told me he did not put it on, and it looks like an original sticker. But I am not 100% poisitive so I am selling it as an ALPINA clone. The vehicle is in Great shape, and drives Awesome! The vehicle just passed smog on 12/20/12. It has Alpina Road Racing Wheels, with $1,160 Yokohama Road Racing Tires. It has Magnaflow Exhaust, Recaro Sport seats and Sport steering wheel! Vehicle has small crack on dash and spedo screen. Minor blemishes on paint and Interior from being a 30 year old car, but for 30 years old it looks AWESOME! This car is one fun ride on the track and on the streets. If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask.  The car is sold as-is and has NO RESERVE, so the last bidder WINS, Happy bidding!

BMW 8 Series turns 25 [w/video]

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

From the very beginning, the BMW 8 Series was a head turner. It was hardly a common sight in the first place, and the angular lines and low, pointed nose made the GT look like something special on the road. It's been 25 years since the Bavarian brand's flagship coupe of the '90s debuted, and owners celebrated the anniversary in style in Germany.
The 8 Series still looks great today, but its popup headlights give away its age a little. You just don't see them anymore. It was introduced at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 850i with a 5.0-liter V12 under the hood capable of 295 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Later, even bigger V12s would find their way in there. Production lasted until 1999, but they were rather exclusive with 30,621 built in its lifetime.
To celebrate the anniversary, several BMW clubs organized 120 examples for display at the company's headquarters in Munich. The brand took advantage of the display to show off the ultimate 8 prototype as well. The one-off special packed a 550-horsepower V12 and a body with optimized aero. That engine eventually became the basis for the one in the McLaren F1.

BMW Concept 90 Motorcycle debuts at Villa d'Este

Fri, 24 May 2013

The Concept 90 is one of two new vehicles BMW is showing off at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the tony shores of Lake Como in Italy. This year is the 90th anniversary of BMW Motorrad and the 40th anniversary of the R 90 S (inset) - the first production motorcycle to come with a front fairing - and BMW has worked with custom bike builder Roland Sands Design to craft a homage to the Daytona Orange boxer from the Seventies.
While following the line of its forbearer, obviously the Concept 90 has been sexed and sleeked up. The bodywork is of hand-worked aluminum, the giant halogen lamp of the 1975 model (which is when Daytona Orange was introduced) has gone LED, and the front engine cover, valve covers, exhaust and wheels have been made with a contrast-cut milling process.
For a finer description of the Concept 90 check out the press release below, or skip the words and go straight to the high-res images above.

BMW M4 Concept beckons the new golden child of M cars

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

Ushering in the next-generation of two-door M performance cars for BMW, the new M4 Concept was officially unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance last night after an unceremonious embargo leak yesterday afternoon. The reality of the fact that we will never again have a new M3 Coupe is a little easier to deal with after browsing the M4 Concept's sleek and sporty lines.
As was the case with the Concept 4 Series Coupe, we expect the this M4 to transition from concept car to production coupe with very few changes. Among the features we's bet against making it into production include the front splitter and the exhaust tips - both made from carbon fiber. Other notable details are the aero-shaped mirrors, the subtle M stripes on the carbon fiber roof and the 20-inch wheels exposing big six-piston from brakes. If it were up to us, we'd say bring this car to production as is - except for the paint color.
There is still no word on the M4's powertrain or if it will even offer a manual geabox, but we would imagine that we'll be seeing this car in production form, complete with all of those details at the LA Auto Show.
