Very clean BMW 325is with only 111k miles, this car had one owner before me and was picked up in Germany, driven for a couple months and then shipped home and has been in California all its life. The body is very straight and has the original alpinweiss paint job in very nice shiny condition, not a trace of rust anywhere. With normal care the paint on the car will last for many more years. The are no dents a couple very small barely noticeable  parking lot dings in the passenger side door and a couple paint chips on the hood otherwise perfect. The dash is in perfect condition and the steering wheel is also excellent. The rear seat and passenger seat look unused the driver seat has creases in the outer bolster, but no holes. The car was always garage so the bright work around the windows is excellent and the bumper are shiny not dull like most. The door seals are in very good condtion as is the carpets. The original radio work but makes static when the volume switch is moved. The timing belt and tensioner were just replaced this week so only have about 80 miles them. The car has the usual sport package equipment M tec steering wheel limited slip, larger anti sway bars ect. The tires are marginal at best and the air conditioner could use charging. The car drives like an E30 should tight and smooth the transmission shifts good and the motor sound great. All the small thing that are worn out in a high mileage car are still in excellent condition. The under hood pictures show the cosmoline preservative on the shock towers and it looks kind of yellow the is no rust on this car at all. New catalytic converter, California smog test done= Passed.

BMW considering North American engine plant?

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

BMW may be set to expand its US operations with a new engine plant, Bloomberg reports. The Bavarian automaker already has its Spartanburg, SC factory which builds the company's X3, X5 and X6 crossovers. According to the story, Mexico is also under consideration for the BMW engine factory, with the report claiming a final decision will be made in 2014.
"Establishing local motor manufacturing abroad is more complex than assembling cars, but it's a logical step for them to eventually start making engines in markets where they're expanding vehicle production," Juergen Pieper, an analyst for Bankhaus Metzler tells Bloomberg. Building engines in the US or Mexico would save BMW from having to ship engines for some of its most popular models across the Atlantic.
BMW, for its part, hasn't said anything concrete. Spokesman Mathias Schmidt is quoted in the story saying, "As part of our long-term growth strategy, we're frequently looking at different countries for possible locations of future production facilities. No decisions have been made yet, though, for an additional plant."

BMW stripes up X6 M Design Edition

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

There's something that makes red, dark blue and light blue stripes running up the fenders and down the flanks of a white car just that much more eye-catching. Whether it's a Martini Racing liveried racecar or something from the BMW skunkworks, they just draw long looks nothing else can. And here's the latest.
The BMW X6 M Design Edition upgrades on the standard X6 M with such special touches as 21-inch alloys, a carbon front splitter and rear splitter, black grilles and diffusor, and of course, those iconic racing stripes, which come as an option on this model.
The interior has been done up in black leather with Mugello red accents and piano black trim. Only 100 individually-numbered examples will be offered, and given that this one's wearing German plates, we doubt there's much chance many (if any) will make it Stateside. But then again, you could always spec up your own X6 M with most if not all of the same trim and forgo the little number plate on the dashboard.

2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

One of the many perks of this job is, not surprisingly, the cars. It's relatively easy to snag the keys to a vehicle for a special occasion, whether that be for a road trip, tailgating or helping a friend move. And while sometimes the tailgating might happen with a Ford F-150 instead of a Range Rover and the road trip might be in a minivan rather than a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, occasionally the stars align and a special vehicle arrives for an equally special time.
That's exactly how I found myself dressed to the nines and behind the wheel of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, a $135,375 (as-tested) rocket ship, en route to a rare multi-wedding weekend to celebrate with two pairs of my closest friends on the biggest day of their lives (a very special congratulations to Kara and Zach, and Laura and Andrew). Continuing with our nuptial theme, the M mechanicals and the 6 Series Gran Coupe body are a match made in heaven.
