Up for sale is my 1999 BMW 328i (E46 generation), which I sadly must sell to help pay for a wedding.

I purchased the car several years ago from a BMW mechanic who had just replaced the heads after the original owner overheated the car (at around 120K miles). The car is a 5 speed (lots of fun) and pulls as strongly as any 328 out there, and rides on almost new tires. The sunroof and all of the windows work fine, which I understand can be a concern in these vehicles. Oil changes have been with Mobil 1 extended performance (I think I have a new filter or 2 left). The interior is clean, with only the driver's seat leather showing worse for the wear (you can't but 225k miles on a car without some serious seat time). The exterior, in Orient Blue, is mostly great with the major detraction being an unsightly key scratch across the top of the trunk lid. I'd like to thank the bored teenager that did that. . .

The aux cooling fan on the car is not working and will need to be replaced. Without this fan, the car temperature on the car will begin to raise at low speed/in traffic. I had great intentions of doing this myself but car has ended up parked for longer than I would care to admit as I simply don't have the time (I'm also a student) or, truthfully, the skill to replace it. The part itself is $150 from various websites. . .

This has been the BEST touring car I have ever owned, and I can see why so many people are fanatical about these cars. Ask a mechanic, they will tell you that this generation is particularly nice to work on....

BMW readying Spartanburg expansion for X7 production

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

Prior to the debut of the original X5 in 1999, the idea of a BMW crossover might have seemed like heresy. But here we are, fifteen years removed from the Frank Stephenson-penned design, and the Bavarian automaker has expanded its crossover lineup to include the X1, X3, X4 and X6, and it's showing no sign of slowing down.
We recently reported that BMW is planning on slotting an X2 in at the bottom of the range between the X1 and X3, but now it's being widely reported that it's got an even larger one to put in at the top of its utility line. That, of course, would be the X7, a long-rumored three-row model that would give BMW a large family hauler to challenge the Mercedes-Benz GL.
According to The Wall Street Journal, BMW is expanding its assembly plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to accommodate production of the X7 alongside the X3, X4 and X5 that it already builds there for local consumption.

Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.

Behind the scenes of BMW's 'Drift Mob,' Part 1

Sat, 28 Jun 2014

Generally speaking, marketing and journalism don't mix, but every now and then, what goes into the marketing of a car - the 2015 BMW M235i, in this case - is worth documenting. In that spirit, we took BMW up on its offer to bring us behind the scenes of its upcoming "drift mob" video, starring five red M235i coupes frolicking around a traffic circle in a major world city (BMW has asked us to be coy about which one so as not to blow its cover before the shoot).
The five drivers can all be considered legends of modern-day drifting and stunt driving: Rhys Millen, Samuel Hübinette, Dai Yoshihara, Rich Rutherford and Conrad Grunewald.
As the only US media outlet in attendance, Autoblog plans to follow up with a full story on the experience once BMW polishes and releases the video in a month or so. In the meantime, check out our photos of this epic practice session we captured on our first day hanging with the crew, and be sure to watch this space for more behind-the-scenes action.
