Never smoked in, no pets. Well taken care of. This was my wife's car for a long time and I began using it as a commuter about 3 years ago. We recently upgrade her car so I'm taking her old one and selling this one. Over $5K worth of maintenance work done in the last year.

Now, for some areas of improvement. I want to be as truthful as possible about anything I know. Has a slight oil leak. I had the valve cover and oil pump housing gasket replaced as they are common failures. This cleared up 99% of the oil leaks, but I have a small one I've just noticed again. The right rear tailight has recently gone bad. This is a known defect from BMW and there is a factory recall to replace it. I just haven't had time to get it in there. The front right turn bulb just burned out too and needs replacing. I just found it today so I'm being as informative as I can. It also has an intermittent check engine lights. I had a persistent one but it turned out to be the secondary air pump. This was over $500 to replace and the light went away. But now it comes back from time to time. Not all the time, but sometimes. I'm guessing it's a sensor somewhere.

There a few minor mechanical things to fix and you have a fantastic car for the money.

Weekly Recap: The divergent paths of Tesla and Fisker

Sat, 02 Aug 2014

There's no doubt that Tesla is downshifting while Fisker has been grinding its gears. But it wasn't always that way.
In the wake of Tesla's recent success, it's easy to forget that there were once two California electric carmakers with bright futures.

BMW, Mini aim to sell million cars off new FWD platform

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mini sold 301,526 cars in 2012; BMW sold 1.54 million of its own models. According to a piece in Autocar, analysts say the coming UKL1 platform that will form the skeleton of the third-generation Mini Cooper and coming front-wheel drive BMW 1 Series could be responsible for "more than 900,000 cars per year" all by itself.
That sale fire is fueled by the UKL1 wearing up to twenty-three bodies in total between the two brands, 11 for Mini and 12 for BMW, rendering hatchbacks, sedans, coupes, convertibles, wagons, crossovers and people-haulers from about 12.5 feet to 14.5 feet. In April the VP of Mini USA said we might find some current models don't make it to a next generation, but a graphic accompanying the Autocar story has them all there. If it's correct, then those 23 models will only base model lines and don't account for different engines and four-wheel-drive options for each model.
The big changes that would perhaps mean big sales for the Mini line are a five-door hatch with two smaller rear doors for children, the sedan talked about last year for Asian markets and an MPV perhaps wearing the "Traveler" name that could send the Countryman in a more SUV-like direction.

Vorsteiner BMW M4 GTRS4 shows how to do a widebody at SEMA

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Part of the joy of the SEMA Show is that all of the best tuners in the world are competing to show off their wares, and the challenge often pushes the companies into some absolutely insane directions. Case in point: Vorsteiner and its ludicrous GTRS4 wide body kit with the BMW M4.
According to Auto Evolution, the kit reportedly adds 4 inches in the front to fit 10.5-inch-wide wheels and a massive 7-inches more in the rear to snug in 13.5-inch-wide wheels, but spinning around the BMW in these images makes the changes look even more extreme. Beyond just the extra room in the fenders, the lower air intakes are ready to suck in huge volumes of cool air, and there's a front splitter to keep things planted. The front and rear extensions are joined by side sills that grow the farther back they go. Finally, at the rear, the M4 gets a reworked diffuser with mesh inserts.
This is just the type of automotive craziness that makes SEMA interesting. Take a lot at it for yourself in the gallery.
