Sharp BMW 325i convertible in great shape for its age. It was my daily driver until I got a new car a month ago. Mom bought the car new in 1987 and it was fully restored in 2007 (including new motor and transmission rebuild). Mileage shows 167,xxx, but odo quit last year. Since then it has some wear and tear seen in pictures. In the past 6 months its had all 4 new brake rotors and pads, 4 new tires, new bushings in the rear, and a new A/C blower motor. Paint is in excellent shape but there are a couple dings in the passenger side hood seen in pictures. Air is cold, heat is hot. Car is super quick and always gets compliments. Very clean and never smoked in. Driver seat has small tear and rear seat has a tear. Has a little chatter in the top end as all older BMWs do. I had it fully checked out by BMW mechanic thinking this was abnormal. Only thing that the car needs would probably be a new top. It's fine in light or quick rains, but in long heavy rains it will get saturated and leak. I keep it in my garage. Tops are $275 on ebay with a 5 yr warranty. It is an old car and it is not perfect. BMW puts a sheep in wolf's clothing with 2 Series Active Tourer M Sport
Thu, 27 Mar 2014BMW is charting new territory with the 2 Series. No, not the two-door model - that's just the kind of rear-drive coupe for which the brand is known. But the Active Tourer (which only shares its series designation with the coupe) is a front-drive tall hatchback/MPV category buster, and that's not exactly what comes to mind when you think of Bimmers. As such, the 2 Series Active Tourer is bound to turn off some of the brand's faithful, but this latest M Sport kit could at least ease the pain somewhat.
The sport package for the Active Tourer packs all the usual suspects: a more aggressive aero kit, retuned suspension, blacked-out grille, 17- or 18-inch alloys and an interior with sports seats trimmed in blue-stitched Alcantara. Top all that off with an Estoril Blue paint job and you've got a compact family hauler that might look the part, and maybe handle a bit tighter, yet it naturally stops short of the full M treatment (or even an M Performance spec like you'd find in the M235i coupe). All of which is probably just as well, because that might be the only thing BMW purists would object to more than the existence of a front-drive BMW MPV in the first place.
BMW bringing special Horse Edition 7 Series to Beijing
Thu, 10 Apr 2014The Beijing Motor Show is just a couple of weeks away, and BMW wouldn't miss out on the opportunity to show off its latest wares to one of its most vital markets. So when the doors open in Beijing, BMW will showcase the new 2 Series Active Tourer, 2 Series Coupe, M3 and M4, 4 Series Gran Coupe and X4. It will also introduce the i3 and i8 to China for the first time. But those are all models we've seen already. What's new is... wait for it... the 7 Series Horse Edition.
Not celebrating horses so much as the Year of the Horse, this special edition 7 Series is based on the long-wheelbase model and comes with all manner of M equipment packages, a special paint job from BMW Individual and unique touches inside and out. BMW isn't saying which engine it features, but it sells the series in China in 730Li, 740Li, 750Li, 760Li and ActiveHybrid forms, with rear- or all-wheel drive. Given that the one pictured is wearing an xDrive badge, it would have to be either the 740Li or 750Li, but buyers will presumably be able to order it in whichever spec they desire.
While it may not be as exciting as the 9 Series concept BMW is rumored to have lined up for the Beijing show as well, you can bet that the Bavarian automaker will find plenty of buyers for this extra-special, extra-Chinese, extra-equestrian luxury sedan, and command a healthy premium from each and every one of them.
VW Golf R pitted against BMW M235i in enthusiast's choice battle
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Most people don't have two, open spots in their garage to fit a practical daily driver and a fire-breathing performance car for the weekends. That's what makes vehicles like the latest Volkswagen Golf R and BMW M235i just about perfect for the average person. Both of these Germans can lope around as a commuter 90 percent of the time and be perfectly comfortable. However, when you want to walk in the door with a big smile on your face, you can take the back roads home and get a real thrill from them.
In his latest short video, Chris Harris from Drive tests these surprisingly comparable German performance cars. Both of them offer buyers in the neighborhood of 300 horsepower, with the BMW winning out with 320 hp. However, the Golf R gets standard all-wheel drive, which is now an option on the M235i. Harris has quite positive things to say about these Europeans, but you're going to have to watch the video to hear just what he thinks.
