E30: 1991 Bmw 318i (m52 Swapped) on 2040-cars
Monroe, Georgia, United States
1991 BMW 318i (M52 Swap) I have a 1991 318i, it has 248K on the chassis and I'm guessing somewhere between 150K-170K on the M52B28(From a 1998 328i)! This mileage will go up during sell, because I do still daily this car! Super fun car to drive, with the swap, very quick! Motor runs amazing! I was in a small fender bender(required new valance and a fender)so we decided to repaint the car, it was repainted by my dad about a year ago! Goodies: 17x8 Rotiform BLQ's(Kumho Ecsta 205/40's with plenty of life left) M52 Swapped, aftermarket radiator Megan Racing Coilovers with less than 2K on them Nearly FLAWLESS interior(one rip in headliner) The whole entire front suspension was just replaced last month(Tie Rods, Sway Bar End Link, Control Arm, and Coilovers) Valve Cover Gasket just replaced along with spark plugs, crank case vent tube, radiator hose Borla Exhaust(CAT is busted, been meaning to just cut it out) All the exterior trim was replaced when painted! Carbon Intake(Not sure on the brand) Bads: Needs a new gas stank(a friend jacked my car up on the gas tank:/ It holds gas, you just can't fill it all the way up, I still daily it) Needs new heater core piping(not a big deal if you never use heat) One small rip in the headliner(only problem with interior) |

BMW planning to stretch i3 into i5 family hauler?
Sat, 30 Nov 2013If you're sweet on the new BMW i3 but wish it had more space to carry people and stuff, we've got good news for you. According to Autocar, BMW is planning on stretching the platform that underpins the i3 to create a new model, expected to be called i5.
The stretch job would add an extra four inches of legroom in the back and another six inches of rear overhang to the benefit of cargo space. The result would create a vehicle longer than the current Mini Countryman - although the next Countryman is likely to be even larger. As Autocar points out, the process of extending the i3's composte passenger cell likely wouldn't be as difficult or cost-intensive as lengthening a conventional metal chassis, although the rear doors would need to be re-engineered.
Whether the resulting vehicle would more closely resemble a hatchback, wagon, minivan or something in between remains to be seen, however BMW is said to have already registered the nameplates i1 through i8, signalling that the possibility is at least there to add more members to its new EV family.
EVO takes flight in BMW's sultry i8
Mon, 15 Sep 2014Electric cars and hybrids are here to stay, much to the apparent dismay of some auto enthusiasts, but that doesn't mean they have to represent the death of enjoyable driving. Granted, the initial run of hybrids in the US like the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius weren't exactly tailor-made for aggressive folks behind the wheel, but things are clearly changing. In its latest video, Evo takes a look at three examples from Europe's new crop of electrified vehicles to show that the future of fun motoring is safe and sound.
Evo editor Henry Catchpole kicks things off with one of the most bizarre EVs of the bunch, the tiny Renault Twizy. Its low power and 50-mile-per-hour top speed might make it miles away from a hot hatch, but there's still fun to be had in extracting the most from this little city car. Next up is the Audi A3 E-Tron, which isn't technically available yet. It's a step in the right direction of eventually creating an affordable, fun-to-drive hybrid hot hatch.
However, the main event is Catchpole getting some seat time in the BMW i8. The Bimmer can really fly -literally in this case - and the butterfly-door coupe offers a clear look at the prospects for electrified sports cars. It might not have the power of hybrid supercar contemporaries like the LaFerrari or Porsche 918 Spyder, but the BMW doesn't cost nearly as much, either. See? Improved efficiency doesn't have to mean boring.
BMW stripes up X6 M Design Edition
Tue, 24 Sep 2013There's something that makes red, dark blue and light blue stripes running up the fenders and down the flanks of a white car just that much more eye-catching. Whether it's a Martini Racing liveried racecar or something from the BMW skunkworks, they just draw long looks nothing else can. And here's the latest.
The BMW X6 M Design Edition upgrades on the standard X6 M with such special touches as 21-inch alloys, a carbon front splitter and rear splitter, black grilles and diffusor, and of course, those iconic racing stripes, which come as an option on this model.
The interior has been done up in black leather with Mugello red accents and piano black trim. Only 100 individually-numbered examples will be offered, and given that this one's wearing German plates, we doubt there's much chance many (if any) will make it Stateside. But then again, you could always spec up your own X6 M with most if not all of the same trim and forgo the little number plate on the dashboard.
