I had this listed for sale in 2012. Then I took it to Ocean City at H2Oi and had a blast and decided I didn't want to sell it. I had some real interest in it and turned down a few offers. Flash forward 2 years. I've only driven it 5 times since H2Oi. It's sad really, I just don't use it. I guess the appeal for me is BUILDING things, not using them (I've built several motorcycles since then, though I do use them a lot). I've decided I could use the space in my garage, and use the money to get into another motorcycle build. I think it speaks mostly for itself, but here is some info about it: There is a whole blog about the buildup of the car which can be found here: http://newman.onyxsyndicate.com/e30gtr/e30gtr_00.htm The car was featured on Jalopnik.com as well as in print from S3 magazine (I have some copies if you want them) No expense was spared. I have about $45,000 invested in the car, really... plus 4 years of my time. The car saw 500hp/400ft-lb on a MUSTANG dyno. Almost every step of the build process was documented in the blog. 2015 BMW i8 configurator is ready to show the future
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Good news if you're one of the lucky few that can afford the new BMW i8. The high-performance hybrid's configurator has gone live on BMW USA's consumer website, meaning you can head in and customize till you drop.
If you've ever played with a BMW configurator, you'll instantly feel at home with the i8's. You have the choice of four trim packages (your author refuses to use BMW's pretentious "World" trim names), followed by wheel and exterior paint options. The interior choices are fixed to the trim level, so aside from trim, color and the choice of two wheel options, there isn't a lot to pick out on the i8.

BMW recalling 1 Series ActiveE over bad drivetrain housing
Wed, 30 Jan 2013There are always growing pains when automakers introduce new technologies. BMW is learning this with the electric powetrain used on the 2011 BMW ActiveE. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about half of the all-electric 1 Series coupes currently in the hands of the public are being recalled for a potential problem that could leave the cars stranded.
With 700 ActiveE models running around the US, 360 of these cars have insufficient sealing between the electric motor and transmission, which could lead to premature wear to the connection between the two, which in turn could result in a loss of propulsion. BMW started notifying affected owners by phone earlier this month.
While no automaker wants a recall on its hands, it's much better for BMW to learn such a lesson now on the low-production, lease-only ActiveE ahead of the car's successor, the BMW i3, which is expected to be a much higher-volume EV. Scroll down for the official recall notification.
Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]
Wed, 15 Jan 2014This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.
