1999 Bmw 540i Base Sedan 4-door 4.4l on 2040-cars
Dacula, Georgia, United States
Up for sale is an extremely well cared for and sorted 1999 BMW E39 540i 6-Speed M-Sport with 161K. I am the 4th owner of this vehicle and it has only received the best of care throughout its life. As a limited 540i M-Sport there were few manual units produced in 1999. The vehicle is jet black with black leather interior, alcantara headliner, leather visors and DSP sound, 6CD changer. All factory maintenance has been performed and up to date. The mechanic that knows this car is willing to speak to anyone about it. All maintenance is up to date with invoices to show all work performed and parts replaced. I have the original window sticker. This car needs nothing! It is quiet, reliable and drives like a new car. All suspension including Bilstien sport front struts, brakes, steering, engine mounts, radiator and cooling, wheels and tires, drive shaft, vanos, higher hp intake manifold, Super Sprint Exhaust, clutch, trans service, Short Shifter, idler arm, tie rod ends, control arms, wishbones, thrust arms, angel eyes, updated rear lights, full tint, new German windshield. There is too much to mention. It has been tastefully updated, but not hot rodded. It is reliable and I actually prefer it over my wife’s 2010 335i convertible. This vehicle is truly stunning.

Permanent erection lawsuit against BMW thrown out
Wed, 19 Mar 2014The California man who claimed that he suffered from a 20-month erection after a four-hour ride on his BMW K1100RS motorcycle (similar model pictured above) has had his case dismissed. It seems the court found his claims too hard to believe.
Henry Wolf filed a product liability lawsuit against BMW and seatmaker Corbin-Pacific in the California Superior Court in April 2012 after he claimed a motorcycle ride in September 2010 caused a long-term case of priapism from the "ridge-like" saddle design. He asked for compensation for lost wages, medical expenses and emotional distress from both companies.
Nearly two years later, according to Visor Down, Judge James J. McBride decided that the case didn't have enough supporting evidence. A urologist testified that the plaintiff had priapism, but the court rejected the testimony of a neurologist who claimed the motorcycle's vibration caused the disorder. The defendants presented testimony from the bike's former and subsequent owners. Corbin-Pacific CEO Mike Corbin also spoke in the company's defense.
Forget about greenlighting it, BMW is already testing the M2
Thu, 08 May 2014One week ago, we reported, with some skepticism, that BMW had greenlit a car we've been waiting for since the 1 Series M Coupe was discontinued - the M2. Now, we have the first images of that new hotshot underoing testing in Germany.
What's our reasoning here? After all, this just looks like an M235i. Well, that camo is disguising swollen fenders designed to conceal wider tires. Now, these aren't production changes, and it's very likely that the eventual M2's fenders will look quite a bit different. According to our spy, the front fenders have been borrowed from the M235i Racing, while the rears are from an unknown source.
Our spies are also quick to point out a few other high-performance items on this mule. The cross-drilled brakes and blue M calipers are one such item, although we aren't sure how much they differ from the optional stoppers on the production M235i. The black wheels are borrowed from the M3 and M4, and are shod in what look like a sticky set of Michelin tires.
BMW to follow Honda back into F1?
Mon, 14 Apr 2014The economic downturn wrought devastating effects on motor racing. Formula One alone lost half its engine suppliers when Honda left at the end of the 2008 season, and both BMW and Toyota followed at the end of 2009. But things are looking up again. Cosworth may have dropped out this season, reducing the engine suppliers to three: Ferrari, Renault and Mercedes, the latter of which admits that it may have left had the engine formula not changed. But Mercedes has stayed and is dominating the championship. Honda is coming back next season. And word around the paddock is it may not be the only one.
According to Giancarlo Minardi - founder of the team now known as Scuderia Toro Rosso - BMW engineers have been conspicuously spotted lately at F1 test sessions and grands prix, lending to speculation that the new engine regulations may entice the Bavarian automaker back into the series. According to Minardi, BMW's marketing division is pushing for the automaker's return to F1, with the board slated to make a decision in May. BMW would be more likely to consider an engine-supply deal rather than taking a team over like it had with Sauber, but with which team or teams it might collaborate remains a big question mark at this point.
As if that's not enough, Ford is said to be considering taking over Cosworth's aborted V6 turbo engine program to take both outfits back into the sport as well. Cosworth supplied F1 engines under the Ford banner for years, but returned under its own name for four seasons from 2010 through 2013 before shuttering its program to develop an engine to meet the new regulations adopted this season.
