Selling a very nice 1982 BMW 633csi.  Nice shinny black paint, tan interior, absolutely no rust. The back seats are original leather and in nice shape.  (rarely sat in)  The front seats are vinyl.  Carpet is in good shape, though a bit faded.  Dash has cracks; could use a dash cap, (they look great, about $135.00) Repainted in the last few years, very nice job.  8.5/10; couple of minor chips.  All glass is good.  Electric windows all work fine. Nearly new Continental Extreme Contact 225/50/16 tires on nice 29 cross spoke BMW wheels.  No metric wheels and hard to find tires...better handling.

Runs, drives great.  No vibration at any speed.  New center link and all wheel alignment.  Steering is tight.  Great handling. Strong brakes, pads good for a while. Shifts nicely. I've had lots of 911's and this car has a very similar sporty feel.  Climate system works as it should. Air conditioning works fine, (for a 1982 BMW), blows cold.  Alpine CD player with amp. and four new speakers sounds great. Gauges, including the odometer, and all switches and dash lights work fine.  Trunk and interior lights all work.

Lots of recent work done including new shocks/struts in the front with new mounts.  Bilsteins in the rear.  New muffler, many new engine sensors, spark plugs, new fuel injectors, belts, (spare belts in the trunk), new factory ignition switch.. All locks, trunk included, work and lock electrically with one key. Head reworked and reinstalled all new gaskets. Clutch master cylinder replaced.  New throw out bearing and clutch.  All new tranny mounts. Tranny is serviced with Red Line Synthetic. Uses some oil as do most Big six B'mers.  All syncros good.  Some play in shift linkage, kit to fix that about $35; but its not that bad.

Idles and runs great. Smooth acceleration right to redline. Brakes strong.  Books, records, tools, (missing a pliers), jack, spare. No leaks. Great car that I probably should keep; I would drive it anywhere.  Gets lots of looks, great design, the Shark!

BMW reveals full details on M235i Racing

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

We were suitably excited when BMW first announced the imminent arrival of the M235i Racing. After all, what's not to like about a factory-prepared racecar with 333 horsepower you can pick up for just eighty grand? Now BMW has released the full details on the latest addition to its racing portfolio, where it joins the M3 DTM, M3 GT4, Z4 GTE/GT3 and 320 TC in a growing family of competition machinery prepared by BMW Motorsport.
Based on the new 2 Series coupe, the M235i Racing is the first M Performance model for the track, and boasts the line's most powerful engine: the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight six has been optimized to 333 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. A mechanical limited-slip differential helps transfer the power to the track surface, along with race-tuned ABS, DSC and traction control.
Four-pot calipers up front and two-pot calipers in the rear shave off speed for the corner and are packed inside the 18-inch alloys, with KW dampers and H&R suspension components. Inside there's a six-point racing harness and Recaro bucket surrounded by an FIA-certified roll cage, and customers can even have an extra seat installed to take passengers for ride-alongs. All of which can be yours for €59,500.00 - equivalent to $82k at today's rates, before taxes.

Forza Motorsport profiles courageous paralyzed racer

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

It's easy to look at racing video games as just a time waster or a hobby. In reality, though, they're often powerful tools for aspiring racers to learn tracks, race craft and how to set up a car in an easily accessible, risk-free environment. We aren't just talking about proper computer-based sims, like iRacing. Console-based racers like Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo provide a test bed for racers of all sorts.
For Mario Bonfante, Jr., a former motorcycle racer that was involved in a brutal accident that left him in a wheelchair with only limited use of his arms, Forza is a bit more. It allows him to perfect the setup of his personal racecar, a heavily modified E46 BMW M3, complete with hand controls.

Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.
You can watch all of the press release and winning videos below or check out all of the finalists, announced last month, for a refresher.
