NOTE:  Selling this daily driver as the Best Parts Car Ever!!

Passed smog to get April, 2014 tags that come with car, no guarantee it will pass now. This car starts, runs and shifts as it should, strong and smoothly with exception below.  I am selling as "a parts car" to make sure that nobody is upset with me if they have problems that come from an 18 year old V12 luxury battleship with 208k miles down the road.  I had planned to keep this classic, but fell in lust with an 2006 604hp MBZ S65.  Advertising locally too, so if you like this blacked out beauty buy it now.  Car looks great in person.  Will cooperate with shipper if buyer arranges.  Will post more pictures soon.

Bought it for $6500 40k miles ago and spent over $4k on paint and wheels in addition to normal items like the typical window failures, etc.  All 4 window actuators replaced, brakes, rotors and tires upgraded and good.  My loss is your gain!

So yeah, just bought a late model MBZ S65 and my BMW 750IL baby has to go...  She starts, runs, and shifts as she should, except at approx 60% throttle or so it can hesitate and throws error codes on misfire.  She can be trusted to drive long distance, but needs a little TLC.

Features of the E38 7 Series includes power moonroof, a sound system with 14 speakers and four subwoofers as well as 6-disc CD changer,  The E38 7 Series never had the factory DVD-ROM based Navigation system [5] although upgrading to this system is a simple process) and rain-sensing wipers. Other features included an automatic climate control system with separate controls for the driver and passenger, a three-position memory system for the driver’s seat, safety-belt height, new steering wheel and outside mirrors. Front-seat side airbags and a Head Protection System (HPS) were also standard. The 750iL featured an all-leather interior with burl walnut trim.

The good:
This car new was $92,000.00 and worth it.  Its a beautiful and rare 750IL with Hamann, not BMW tags.
It was further updated with 2001 Hamann body panels and lowered.
18" Staggered black powder coated AC Schintzer 275/35 18's in back and 255/40 18's in front.
Wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle with 50% tread left.
Fresh bright $2200.00 black paint job less than 9 months ago and clean body with tinted windows.
Black leather interior clean and rip free.
All windows and seats work as they should.
Upgraded angel eyes in front and blacked out led tail lights.
Car startes and shifts as it should.
AC blows strong and cold

The bad:
Hood release works but can take 2 people to open
Aftermarket angel eyes and led blacked out tail lights throw error codes on bulbs
Driver side door error code prevents programming of keyless remote
Car needs coolant added about every 6 weeks.
Occasional hesitation and misfire, seems like too much oxygen.
Must lock car from trunk to lock or unlock all locks at once, driver's side lock works alone.

This is the BMW Z4 GTE that will wear the Roundel in ALMS

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

The Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway are a month of racing and reveals, with the season's metal going for the flag at races like the Rolex 24 at Daytona and other cars being introduced to the public. In the latter category is the BMW Z4 GTE (click the image above to enlarge) joining the American Le Mans Series GT class this year with BMW Team RLL (Rahal, Letterman and Lanigan). This machine replaces the M3 GT that completed four years of service and won the class title in 2010 and 2011. Naturally, the team is tempering expectations for the Z4 GTE by repeating the fact that it sees this season as a development year.
BMW Team RLL drivers for its two cars will be Bill Auberlen and series rookie Maxime Martin in the No. 55, aided by Jörg Müller for the endurance races at Sebring and Road Atlanta. The No. 56 car gets Dirk Müller on a full-time basis, Joey Hand when he's not competing in the DTM series, and John Edwards when Hand isn't available. Uwe Alzen will help out with driving duties in the No. 56 at endurance races.

BMW M3 and M4 leak ahead of Detroit debut

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Images of the overhauled BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe have leaked ahead of a debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show, along with option sheets and some specs.
Both wear the standard hallmarks of BMW's M division. There's a subtle power dome in the hood, along with the requisite M3/4-branded strakes on the front fenders. The front and rear fascia are more aggressive than what we've seen in the 3/4 Series M Sport package, as well. Split-five-spoke wheels mean the neither car will stand out in the family portrait and those gold calipers, meanwhile, signify what has been rumored for some time - the M3 and M4 will be getting carbon-ceramic brakes.
The cabin is home to the standard suite of M accoutrements, including a new steering wheel and more heavily bolstered seats. Special trim, including carbon fiber, will be available to further set these cars apart from the standard models.

2014 BMW i3

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

We can only imagine the challenges BMW is going to have explaining the i3 electric vehicle to the world. It's got a new powertain (all-electric, with optional range extender), a new production method (carbon fiber reinforced plastic!), a new brand (the 'i' line) and a new vehicle type (it's a city car). Despite everything that's different, BMW is still trying to talk about the i3 as if it fits in with the rest of the company's vehicles. But it doesn't. Not really. And that's going to make the marketing and salespeoples' jobs quite difficult.
Which is a shame, really, since the i3 is amazing. If it didn't carry the BMW 'heritage' baggage, people would be falling over each other to sing its praises. This is one of the smoothest, roomiest and slickest electric vehicles we've ever driven, with a lot of hidden surprises. It is a wonderful city car, and well designed for the car-sharing, emissions-aware drivers of the near future. But since the i3 carries the BMW name, everyone we ran into while cruising the narrow streets of and flat countryside around Amsterdam in a Euro-spec i3 recently wanted to know one thing: is it "a BMW" as well as being an electric car? During one photo shoot, a police car pulled up next to us, totally stopping traffic. While my co-driver and I instantly thought we were going to be asked to move, the officer simply wanted to know what the scoop was about all the i3s he had seen that day. Oh, and does it drive like a BMW?
We'll answer that question in detail below. The most important thing to remember is that the BMW i3 comes from the new "i" sub-brand within BMW. Like Mini, the i line really is a different beast, despite the roundel's presence. So, what makes a BMW a BMW? The answer is as easy as ABC. Or, in this case, as simple as Bayerische Motoren Werke, or Bavarian Motor Works.
