Glencoe, Missouri, United States
1995 BMW 840CI. 64472 Original miles. I have owned this car since 2002. Highlights: - Metallic black ( Cosmos ) with dove grey interior - Motor ( short block ) replaced by BMW under courtesy from manufacturer due to Nikasil/Alusil issues in 1994-1995 motors. Car had approximately 46k miles on it at the time. Due to the number of BMW's I currently and previously owned and the condition of this car at the time, the BMW regional rep decided it was in their best interest to cover 95% of the replacement cost even though it was well outside the original warranty timeframe. - All of the following in the last 1k miles: New pads and vented/slotted rotors. New TSW 19x8 and 19x9.5 wheels with Hankook Ventus V12 235/35 and 275/30 tires. All services to motor/transmission and rear end completed. - All of the following in the last 10k miles: Bilstien sport performance front struts/shocks/and springs - lowers car approx. 1" from stock. New headliner except sunroof panel which now needs attention. New OEM cd player. *************************** Paint is all original and shows well. ( would rate it a 8.5 out of 10 ) Interior shows well with minimal wear, seats are in excellent condition ( would rate whole interior a 9 out of 10 ) Body has 2 pencil tip type PDR dents ( easily removed with paintless dent removal ) Car runs and drives out strong. Most service records from new included. In the near future, the car will need misc suspension bushings replaced due to the age and nature of the suspensions on the E31. Buyer will assist in shipping logistics. Car is located in St. Louis, Missouri. 63038 |

Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"
Mon, 03 Dec 2012The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
BMW offering Track Handling Package for 2 Series
Thu, 17 Apr 2014After getting a chance to drive the BMW M235i earlier this year, we mentioned our regret at not being able to sample the lighter and less powerful 228i Coupe. We'd like to have seen how close the latter could get to the former, noting that "there's a lot of room for upgrades with the $11,000 retail difference." BMW is closing that performance gap slightly, announcing that a Track Handling Package will join the options sheet for the 2015 228i Coupe.
The group bolts on Variable Sport Steering, Adaptive M Suspension and M Sport Brakes behind new 18-inch lightweight wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. There's no change to the 240-horsepower four-cylinder, but a coupe so equipped should be able to do plenty more with the horses it has thanks to a faster steering rack, sharper handling due to additional sensors and a ten-millimeter drop in ride height, and larger brakes and discs.
BMW has used the New York Auto Show as a venue to introduce the new Track Handling Package, and it will roll onto showroom floors in July and pricing will be announced sometime between now and then. Takers can get it with both the six-speed manual and eight-speed Sport Automatic, see it in the high-res image gallery above, and read about it in the press release below.
2014 BMW X5
Wed, 18 Sep 2013Is Better Than Ever Still Good Enough?
By now, all but the staunchest of traditionalists have moved past the shock and horror of seeing their favorite automotive brands branching into categories and segments that break with their previously accepted norms. In other words, you and I don't really care all that much if the BMW M3 is powered by an inline six or a V8, or whether it boasts a turbocharger, just so long as the end result is an awesome car. Similarly, we don't get all hot under the collar seeing that same M3 share space on the showroom floor with a brace of SUVs and crossovers... or, as BMW continues to insist, Sports Activity Vehicles.
Time, as they say, heals all wounds, and the BMW X5 has been around long enough, having first seen the light of day in 1999, that anyone offended by its existence has since gotten over it. Plus, the X5 is a legitimately nice vehicle to drive, offering such desirable qualities to family men and women as seating for up to seven, all-wheel drive and a commandingly tall view of the road. For the enthusiast set, the X5 serves up a taut chassis and powerful engine options.
