1991 Bmw 850i V12- 5k Miles On New Transmission- Rebuilt Engine- Many Upgrades on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
"Most cars aren't a good investment. You're looking at one of the exceptions, right here. The BMW 8-series is destined for legendary selling prices, as they are becoming more rare and sought after. The technological advancements and ahead-of-its-time computerization that BMW employed in the 8-series is yet unmatched. The most sought after years would be the first year (1991) and the last year (1997) of U.S. production. The 8-series is a legend in its time and a wonder that future car enthusiasts will seek with fervor." This vehicle is an exceptionally well maintained example of the BMW Flagship 8-series. There is no cleaner, stronger or more beautiful 850i on eBay. A Low 139,000 miles for a 22 year-old car tells you that the car was enjoyed, but not abused. Since 2003, this vehicle has received over $20,000 in Mechanical and Performance Upgrades (Listed Below), and has been driven ONLY 5,000 Miles. Many engineering features of the 8-series were far ahead of the current technology, and BMW gained much acclaim for building a supercar that could not be touched by any other production car company. Dual Bank computerized technology, coupled with Fly by Wire acceleration, managed a V-12 power plant with efficiency, and a computer controlled transmission made sure that power got its claws into the asphalt. Technology that blows minds, and sexy lines that turn heads. With mileage so low (6,000 miles a year), you'd expect a mechanically sound vehicle, and that's exactly what you get. But the story of this vehicle's condition gets better. It is well known, among 8-series enthusiasts, that the transmissions will likely give you problems somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 miles, especially now in their old age. Believe me, I know. My transmission was changed at 133,000 with a certified rebuilt transmission. This upgrade is priceless on these vehicles, and that's a benefit you won't see elsewhere here on eBay. MAKE SURE TO ASK ANYONE SELLING A BMW 8-SERIES TO TELL YOU IF THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN CHANGED. IF NOT, BEWARE. This vehicle's transmission has about 5,000 miles on it. About a couple years back, I noticed that the top end of the motor was noisy. I took it to my mechanic, who rebuilt the top end of the engine at 138,000. It was costly, especially for a non-necessity, but I felt it was worth it, and that's one more benefit I'm passing on to the next buyer. A REBUILT ENGINE IS A DEFINITE VALUE ON ANY CAR, LET ALONE A BMW V-12 ENGINE. HOW MANY OTHER BMW 8-SERIES ARE FOR SALE WITH REBUILT ENGINES? This Vehicle's top end has less than 1,000 miles on it. The paint on this car is absolutely gorgeous. It was repainted at around 135,000. But it wasn't your everyday normal paint job. The vehicle was literally broken down, painted and then put back together, to give a factory finish. And believe me, it's shiny and it's beautiful. THIS CAR TURNS HEADS EVERYWHERE. RED IS THE MOST VALUABLE COLOR ON THE BMW 8-SERIES. THIS VEHICLE WAS DISMANTLED AND RE-ASSEMBLED FOR A COMPLETELY FACTORY PAINT JOB IN ITS ORIGINAL BMW COLOR. A superb driving vehicle, with above average maintenance and a look that automatically draws attention. This vehicle has no known issues that affect its operation. Known issues, that are very inexpensive to correct, are listed below. If you need help locating any parts, I have many connections for parts and

As long as a deposit is made, I will work with you as best I can, and within certain limits at my discretion. I want to see my vehicle pass on to somebody who will care for her as much as I have. This is a 100% Rare Collectible Car that Will only Increase in Value!
TOTAL UPGRADES VALUED AT $20,200 THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR! $20,200 in upgrades in 10 years, and I have only put about 5,000 miles on this beautiful car in that time. It's going to be hard to see her go. Thank you for checking out my auction. Best of luck in your quest. |

BMW 1 Series getting a small nose job
Tue, 06 Aug 2013As BMW prepares to launch its new 2 Series lineup, it appears that the current 1 Series is going to get a little attention for itself. Based on these spy photos, the 1 Series hatchback (F20/F21), which is not offered in the US, will be getting a minor facelift in the near future.
From what we can see in these images, the updated 1 Series will definitely be getting a tweaked front end, with most of the attention focusing on the air intakes and grille. Our shooter tells us that it is possible that the headlights may yet be reworked in some way by the time we see this car in production form. It still isn't clear if we'll ever see this bodystyle or the next-gen 1 Series in the US, but our most recent report seems to indicate that the car's fortunes will depend somewhat on how well the Mercedes CLA-Class and Audi A3 sell.
BMW joins the early holiday advertising fray with three new ads
Thu, 06 Nov 2014October 31 is no longer known as Halloween, or All Saints' Eve or even as that day when all children simultaneously develop huge cavities. It's now known as the day before Christmas/holiday advertising begins. Seriously, as of November 1, it seems like companies across the country and from every industry have declared open season on holiday ad campaigns. It's all premature enough that we're already feeling our inner Grinch showing, but at least some of the ads are better done than others.
Among them are new spots from BMW, which has arrived with this mini-campaign of three 30-second, Christmas-themed spots. There's a cameo from Santa Claus, who's at the helm of a sleek M6 Gran Coupe in one spot, while a 3 Series Gran Coupe slices through a slalom of Christmas trees in another. The final spot, called "Road Home", doesn't focus so much on the brand's "Ultimate Driving Machines," as it does the trip home for the holidays.
We've embedded all three videos below, so take a look and then let us know what you think of this seemingly perpetual holiday marketing calendar creep - and the BMW ads in particular - in Comments.
BMW brings first diesel 7 Series to US with $82,500* 740Ld xDrive
Fri, 24 Jan 2014After almost 40 years on the market, there are probably few things the BMW 7 Series hasn't offered, but when it comes to the US market, one of those things just happens to be a diesel engine. That is all about to change, however, as BMW announced that it will unveil the 2014 740Ld xDrive at the Chicago Auto Show before sales commence later in the spring.
Offered only on long-wheelbase models with standard all-wheel drive, the new diesel 7 is powered by BMW's 3.0-liter inline-six producing 255 horsepower and a stout 413 pound-feet of torque peaking between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. While BMW has yet to release any type of fuel economy figures, it did say that its diesel technology is usually good for an improvement of 25 to 30 percent over the gas models - just for fun, that means that the 740 Ld xDrive could get as much as 24.7 miles per gallon in the city and 36.4 mpg on the highway, but that's just doing the math and there is nothing official behind those numbers. Acceleration will take a little longer than in the 740Li xDrive (shown above) with BMW stating 6.1 seconds from 0-60 compared to 5.4 seconds for the gas model.
Another small increase over the gas version will be in price, with the 740Ld xDrive getting a starting MSRP of $82,500 (*not including $925 for destination), which is just a $1,500 bump over the 740Li xDrive. For comparison, the Audi A8L TDI starts at $78,800, while the previous-gen Mercedes S350 Bluetec was priced at $93,000. Scroll down for more info on the new diesel-powered 7 Series, and stay tuned to our live coverage from Chicago in a couple weeks as we'll have live images and hopefully more info.
