1998 on 2040-cars
Machesney Park, Illinois, United States
I'm selling my 1998 BMW m3 with a late build date that makes it
identical to 1999 M3 with newer steering wheel. Car is In excellent
shape! It has 112,680 miles on it. Has Pioneer navigation with rear
camera that the Camera is so flush and well put in you can't even notice
it unless you look hard for it. Has high-quality HID headlights and HID
fog lamps with led angel eyes. The The Cosmo black paint is absolutely
pristine on this car for the year. All the moldings and weatherstripping
even still looks all new. Also has coilovers to lower to what you want
and handles amazing with nice ride still! Vehicle has a clean Carfax
history with no accidents. Has all custom high end alpine speakers and
amps. The whole Stereo system was over $3500. It has won awards for fit
and finish in the past. Car has no rust on it and even barely any
surface rust on the underbody! Has newer supersprint exhaust. Also has genuine black suede headliner. Car was
never driven in the winter even with the previous owner as he is a good
friend of mine and he has owned it since 2006. It doesn't leak anything
and I use Full synthetic motor oil. To find a E36 M3 as clean as mine as well as the extras would be rare for sure. Everything works on the car and has a
nice two-way LED remote Viper car alarm that flash LEDs when armed..
Looks cool at night. Only reason I'm selling the car is because I found
my dream car from when I was in high school that I want to buy and
making the Sacrifice of selling this car.

BMW wants world drifting record back in US
Sat, 23 Mar 2013BMW just can't stand the thought of the world record for the longest drift winding up in the hands of someone else. The German automaker is set to take a crack at setting a new record by blowing the old one straight out of the water. A driver in China holds the current title after kicking a car sideways for a full 3.6 miles. Now, on May 11, BMW Performance Driving Instructor Johan Schwartz will attempt to pitch a BMW M5 sideways for some 40 miles as part of a stunt to raise funds for the BMW Pro-Am Charity.
We've had the distinct pleasure of riding with the instructors at the BMW facility in South Carolina, and we can tell you that if anyone can keep an M5 at full tilt for 40 miles, it's these guys. BMW has released a teaser video to drum up attention for the stunt. You can catch it below.
BMW and Mini getting GoPro integration
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The small, high-quality and relatively inexpensive GoPro camera has been revolutionary for Internet video, especially of cars. Imagine how much awesomeness and hilarity we would have missed without them. Finding ways to integrate the cams into performance cars is becoming increasingly popular among automakers, as well. For example, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette has its Performance Data Recorder, and Volkswagen is giving GoPros to early buyers of the 2015 GTI. BMW Group is going straight to the source for its rendition, though, with a new app that allows drivers to control a GoPro from inside of some BMW and Mini vehicles.
In July, owners with 2012 or later models equipped with BMW Apps or Mini Connected can download the new app. There are a few hurdles to jump over, though. Not only do users need a model with the infotainment system, a WiFi-equipped GoPro camera is also required. The app also must be installed on an iPhone connected to the vehicle.
Once all of those stipulations are met, the app can configure and control the GoPro through iDrive and display a nearly live image on the infotainment system. Menus are simplified on-screen but still allow users to select among six camera modes, aim it and start and stop recording. While filming, it shows recording time, battery life and signal strength. While BMW's approach isn't quite as nicely integrated as the Corvette's solution, it's interesting to see automakers working to make filming easier. Scroll down to read the full announcement.
Car and Driver lists 10Best for 2013, same as it ever was
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Forgive us for having the distinct feeling of déjà vu, but it certainly feels like we've been here before. By that we are referring Car and Driver and the announcement of its annual 10Best vehicles for 2013. To be sure, it's an impressive selection of cars that combine heart-pounding performance and frugal sensibilities, but it also represents something of a broken record on the part of C/D. We're not so sure that's a flaw, though, as the resulting list is tough to argue with.
Vehicles like the Ford Mustang, Porsche Boxster, and BMW 3 Series have maintained their high-horsepower spots on this list for several years now. Even on the more practical and nimble end, the Honda Accord, Honda Fit and Mazda Miata have not budged. These continued spots are even in light of redesigns for some vehicles such as the Accord, Boxster and 3 Series.
In fact, the only newcomer to the 10Best list this year are the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ twins, which knocked out the Cadillac CTS-V. We think it would have been a huge misstep to have excluded the FR-S/BRZ, even in light of the supercharged Caddy's lamentable departure from 10Best.
