DESCRIPTION

For sale is this 2002 Alpine White BMW M3 with tons of aftermarket components. This car looks and runs great. The vehicle has mostly highway miles due to the previous owner's long work commute, and has been serviced regularly and maintained very well. Never been in an accident, the vehicle and title are both clean and clear. The vehicle recently had a significant amount of work done on the rear suspension, including rear subframe reinforcement, rear subframe mounts replaced, all new rear trailing arm bushings and new upper shock mounts. Other work done recently includes, new battery, new e-brake cable, and two brand new rear Yokohama S Drive performance tires with less than 100 miles on them. This M3 is all tuned up and ready to go and is quite an experience to drive. Big even power band, nice linear torque curve, and handles like it's on rails.

AFTERMARKET COMPONENTS

This M3 is loaded with tons of aftermarket goodies, including:
- CSL Front bumper
- CSL Carbon fiber trunk
- CSL Style front splitters
- Carbon fiber rear diffuser
- K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake
- Aftermarket exhaust (Brand unknown, but is high end with the blue titanium tip. Looks and sounds amazing.)
- Koni Yellow Adjustable Sport Shocks/Struts
- H&R Sport Spring set
- 20" HRE Performance wheels

Aftermarket parts totaling over $10,000 in value. The HRE Performance wheels are top of the line and alone are worth approximately $6,000.

KNOWN ISSUES

There are a few minor issues with the vehicle as-is, but all are accessory related, and in no way effect or relate to the drivability, performance, or mechanical condition of the vehicle, but I am selling the vehicle as-is and in the spirit of full transparency, the issues are as follows:

- Passenger door lock does not operate properly. The door will not unlock via the key, or the lock/unlock button in the center console. It will open from the driver pulling the inside door handle open about 25% of the time. This is undoubtedly a minor electrical issue, and should be an easy/cheap fix. This issue just very recently occurred, and knowing that I was planning on selling the car, I decided to leave it be.
- Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) function stays off, and can not be turned on via the DSC button in the center console. This does not effect the drivability of the vehicle at all, and I actually prefer to drive the vehicle with the DSC off since it is a sports car, so this was never something I cared to get fixed, but again is undoubtedly a minor electrical issue.
- Outside temperature gauge reads -40 degrees. Cheap and easy to replace.
- Keyless entry remote batteries are dead. A new one from the factory is all that is needed.
- Minor curb scuffing on the outside edge of the passenger side wheels. Totally normal wear and nothing extreme.
- Some minor scuffing on center part of rear seats. Minor scuffing of center console around e-brake, and wear on driver's side interior door handle. All average wear and tear for the vehicle's age and nothing unexpected here.

This car is perfect for the sports car and/or BMW enthusiast. Runs and drives incredibly, handles like it's on rails, and looks fantastic.

BMW offering Track Handling Package for 2 Series

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

After getting a chance to drive the BMW M235i earlier this year, we mentioned our regret at not being able to sample the lighter and less powerful 228i Coupe. We'd like to have seen how close the latter could get to the former, noting that "there's a lot of room for upgrades with the $11,000 retail difference." BMW is closing that performance gap slightly, announcing that a Track Handling Package will join the options sheet for the 2015 228i Coupe.
The group bolts on Variable Sport Steering, Adaptive M Suspension and M Sport Brakes behind new 18-inch lightweight wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. There's no change to the 240-horsepower four-cylinder, but a coupe so equipped should be able to do plenty more with the horses it has thanks to a faster steering rack, sharper handling due to additional sensors and a ten-millimeter drop in ride height, and larger brakes and discs.
BMW has used the New York Auto Show as a venue to introduce the new Track Handling Package, and it will roll onto showroom floors in July and pricing will be announced sometime between now and then. Takers can get it with both the six-speed manual and eight-speed Sport Automatic, see it in the high-res image gallery above, and read about it in the press release below.

BMW and Mini getting GoPro integration

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The small, high-quality and relatively inexpensive GoPro camera has been revolutionary for Internet video, especially of cars. Imagine how much awesomeness and hilarity we would have missed without them. Finding ways to integrate the cams into performance cars is becoming increasingly popular among automakers, as well. For example, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette has its Performance Data Recorder, and Volkswagen is giving GoPros to early buyers of the 2015 GTI. BMW Group is going straight to the source for its rendition, though, with a new app that allows drivers to control a GoPro from inside of some BMW and Mini vehicles.
In July, owners with 2012 or later models equipped with BMW Apps or Mini Connected can download the new app. There are a few hurdles to jump over, though. Not only do users need a model with the infotainment system, a WiFi-equipped GoPro camera is also required. The app also must be installed on an iPhone connected to the vehicle.
Once all of those stipulations are met, the app can configure and control the GoPro through iDrive and display a nearly live image on the infotainment system. Menus are simplified on-screen but still allow users to select among six camera modes, aim it and start and stop recording. While filming, it shows recording time, battery life and signal strength. While BMW's approach isn't quite as nicely integrated as the Corvette's solution, it's interesting to see automakers working to make filming easier. Scroll down to read the full announcement.

BMW hires Ferrari chief engineer Fedeli

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

There's going to be a little bit more Prancing Horse in some future BMWs because the Bavarian brand is hiring Ferrari chief engineer Roberto Fedeli to join the company in November. Fedeli's new position is still somewhat of a mystery though, and he reportedly might be lending his talents to the high performance M division or possibly even Rolls-Royce. When asked by Automotive News Europe, BMW said that it "currently can't say what his role will be."
Regardless of his new job, Fedeli was a big get for BMW because of his strong résumé. He has been with Ferrari since 1988 and led the engineering for the famous Italian automaker's vehicles since 2007. Fedeli tendered his resignation in September at around the same time that chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced his decision to leave the company. However, Ferrari told ANE that there was no connection between the two events.
