Tempe, Arizona, United States

Up for sale is my 2002 BMW M5. It has served me well, and I hope I don't regret letting this beast go, as this is an incredibly rare color combination to come by.

Mileage is at 110,900

Fully loaded with all available options, M-Premium Audio, Alcanata Headliner, Navigation, PDK, 10/40 split rear seats!

Service records will come with the car. The engine has remained in excellent working order through off all of these years, which is to be expected of later model E39 M5's (2000-2001 cars are know to have Vanos issues along with secondary carbon air system clogging, which pops a code that will not clear and thus will not pass emissions. BRAND NEW VANOS INSATLLED AT 99K MILES @ CHAPMAN BMW IN SCOTTSDALE.

The clutch grabs nice and strong and was replaced at around 80,000 miles. All new polyurathane bushings for front suspension. NO OIL LEAKS, AC Blows ICE Cold, No Warning lights!!! FULLY SERVICED AT BABBIT MOTOR WORKS IN TEMPE AZ @ 108,000 MILES!!

The paint is in phenominal shape as I've only had a professional detailer work on this car right when I got it all the way through now. There are of course rock chips on the front end, again nothing out of the ordinary for a car from 2002 that has seen mostly highway driving. This M5 has a clean carfax history with no accidents or damage!

The interior is in excellent condition and shows very few signs of wear. Very rare black on grey 2 tone leather with alcantara headliner.10/40 split rear seats, full navigation screen,  As with any vehicle of this degree driven by an enthusiast but with a good amount of years under its belt.

The wheels and tires are in excellent condition Shadow Chrome 19" wheels with Nitto tires around (70%)

I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking.

BMW 8 Series turns 25 [w/video]

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

From the very beginning, the BMW 8 Series was a head turner. It was hardly a common sight in the first place, and the angular lines and low, pointed nose made the GT look like something special on the road. It's been 25 years since the Bavarian brand's flagship coupe of the '90s debuted, and owners celebrated the anniversary in style in Germany.
The 8 Series still looks great today, but its popup headlights give away its age a little. You just don't see them anymore. It was introduced at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show as the 850i with a 5.0-liter V12 under the hood capable of 295 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Later, even bigger V12s would find their way in there. Production lasted until 1999, but they were rather exclusive with 30,621 built in its lifetime.
To celebrate the anniversary, several BMW clubs organized 120 examples for display at the company's headquarters in Munich. The brand took advantage of the display to show off the ultimate 8 prototype as well. The one-off special packed a 550-horsepower V12 and a body with optimized aero. That engine eventually became the basis for the one in the McLaren F1.

BMW puts a sheep in wolf's clothing with 2 Series Active Tourer M Sport

Thu, 27 Mar 2014

BMW is charting new territory with the 2 Series. No, not the two-door model - that's just the kind of rear-drive coupe for which the brand is known. But the Active Tourer (which only shares its series designation with the coupe) is a front-drive tall hatchback/MPV category buster, and that's not exactly what comes to mind when you think of Bimmers. As such, the 2 Series Active Tourer is bound to turn off some of the brand's faithful, but this latest M Sport kit could at least ease the pain somewhat.
The sport package for the Active Tourer packs all the usual suspects: a more aggressive aero kit, retuned suspension, blacked-out grille, 17- or 18-inch alloys and an interior with sports seats trimmed in blue-stitched Alcantara. Top all that off with an Estoril Blue paint job and you've got a compact family hauler that might look the part, and maybe handle a bit tighter, yet it naturally stops short of the full M treatment (or even an M Performance spec like you'd find in the M235i coupe). All of which is probably just as well, because that might be the only thing BMW purists would object to more than the existence of a front-drive BMW MPV in the first place.

BMW brings burlesque, Warhol, M1 and 6 Series Grand Coupe to Paris Photo LA

Mon, 22 Apr 2013

BMW has worked with Paris Photo for ten years. This year, the photography exposition lands in Paramount Studios in Los Angeles for the first time, and BMW is not only coming with it, the Bavarians are bringing the Art Car that started it all: the 1979 M1 painted by Andy Warhol. For those attending the show, there will also be making-of video of Warhol working on the car - but if you remember the mini lecture that EVO magazine's Henry Catchpole gave on the Art Cars, you'll remember that Warhol finished the car so quickly that the cameraman barely had time to get the film rolling.
With that will also be a series of photos of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe dropped into noir scenes accompanied by burlesque models, all taken by photographer Uwe Düttmann. It's the first time they'll be exhibited at Paris Photo. You can check out a few of them in the high-res gallery above, and there's a press release below with more info.
