Bmw M3 Base Coupe 2-door on 2040-cars
Evadale, Texas, United States
1998 BMW M3. I am the sixth owner, and I have used this car as my weekend cruiser/backroad corner carver. The engine sounds very healthy, delivers power very linearly, and is very smooth with oil changes every 6500 miles using Castrol Edge 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil and OEM filters. The clutch feels solid, and the transmission shifts very smoothly. The entire cooling system was replaced at 122,000 miles in mid February 2011 including a new water pump with a metal impeller. There are also rear shock tower reinforcement plates installed. This month I replaced the final stage unit and the AC compressor belt. The car has been to one track day, and two auto-x events in its life. I have service records from the point it was bought by the second owner as a CPO in 2000. This M3 does have some tasteful modifications to improve its handling capabilities.

BMW M4 vs. Lexus RC F in Head 2 Head sports coupe showdown
Wed, 29 Oct 2014It's the showdown everyone's been looking forward to, the East versus West grudge match of the year. We're talking, of course, about the BMW M4 versus the Lexus RC F.
Although BMW uses a twin-turbo straight-six and the Lexus uses a free-breathing V8, the two are pretty closely matched on paper: a luxury coupe with over 400 horsepower channeled to the rear wheels.
The BMW has been doing these cars for longer, and the M4 boasts a higher power-to-weight ratio. But then the RC F has more power - and without forced induction to break up the rev range. So which is the better luxury muscle coupe? Watch the latest episode of Motor Trend Head 2 Head to find out.
Audi to spend $17 billion to fight BMW
Sat, 29 Dec 2012It's no secret that VW Group, parent company to not only Volkswagen but also Audi, Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and Ducati brands sold in the US, is determined to become the world's largest automaker. Even more impressive is that VW is prepared to spend billions to make it happen.
With that comes word that VW Group will be spending $17 billion on its Audi brand over the next three years to push itself above rival BMW. The money will be invested in both vehicle development (including lightweight auto design and alternative powertrains) and facilities (including expansion in Hungary, China and new operations in Mexico). The luxury brand is focused on global manufacturing infrastructure.
Already Europe's best-selling luxury brand, Audi's objective is to overtake BMW by the end of the decade by selling more than two million cars per year (BMW is shooting for 1.54 million sales in 2013). If those objectives are met, VW Group should be on track to be the industry's volume leader by 2018.
2015 BMW 2 Series Convertible will flip its lid for $38,850
Tue, 09 Sep 2014
For the most part, they look almost identical to their coupe versions, except that they now boast an electrically folding soft top.
BMW is dropping the top of the 2 Series in early 2015 in the US with convertible versions of the 228i and M235i. They'll make their world debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year and will show their faces on this side of the pond at the 2014 Los Angeles International Auto Show.
