Beautiful 1988 BMW M6.  Looks great and runs great.  A classic that will never go out of style.  I have had five 2002's but always wanted a vintage 6 series.  I found this car in 2010 and have cared for it since.  Prior to my purchase the car was brought into the great shape it is in now.  The exterior was stripped and new paint applied.  The paint job is a strength of the car.  It looks like new, shines bright and draws attention to the car.  I have done my part by driving only on good weather days and keeping the car garaged.  There is no rust whatsoever that I am aware of.

Mechanical work done before I bought the car included a new clutch, new catalytic converter, distributor cap and rotor, ignition wires and plugs, hood struts, tail lens and rear brake rotors.  Since I bought the car I have installed a new alternator, new battery, new radiator, new power steering belt and power steering gear box.  Mechanically I know of nothing that it needs.  It cranks every time and runs like a champ.  I commute about 20 miles each way and drive the car about once a week.  It is a pleasure to drive.  We recently drove to the Vintage in Winston-Salem, NC and she pulled hard the whole way.  I would take her cross-country without a second thought.

The interior is original with full white leather.  The power seats work as do the power windows and mirrors.  The AC blows strong and cold.  Living in the south that is a must.  The carpet is in good shape.  I have red and black coco mats in the floor.  They are in excellent shape.  The head-liner is original but in good shape.  There is a small crack in the dash that just happened (I don't know why since the car is never in the sun - I have included a picture).  The odometer worked when I got the car.  At that time it showed 64,750 miles.  It is not currently working but since 2010 I have put no more than 2,000 miles on the car max.

I bought new wheels and tires last year.  They are 17" Ultra Alpine 402 wheels with 205-50-17 Nexen N5000 tires.  The tires have less than 500 miles on them.

I installed a new Kenwood receiver with SiriusXM radio, CD and aux connection for iPod.  The face detaches for theft protection.  New speakers were installed as well.

Why am I selling?  A three year "M2" project is finally finishing and I need the garage space for that special car.  Something has to go.  My lose can be your gain.

Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser and a $750.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of winning bidder.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  This is a chance to own an M car that really stands out.  As with any 25 year old car it is sold without warranty and "as is".  Happy bidding!

2014 BMW 6 Series gets Frozen Brilliant White convertible, manual option for M6

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

BMW has announced updates to the 6 Series lineup today, including a special "Frozen" edition of the convertible, and a 640i Gran Coupe in all-wheel-drive trim.
The 2014 BMW 6 Series Convertible Frozen Brilliant White Edition (catchy name, right?) will be available from select BMW dealers this May, and will offer buyers the signature paint, Frozen Black mirror caps, a black grille and uniquely designed, 20-inch M Performance wheels. Just 100 examples of the FBWE 6er will be produced, with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive cars in the mix, for starting prices of $106,995 and $110,095, respectively (both prices include $895 in destination and handling charges).
BMW has also informed us that all of its 6 Series Gran Coupe models will now be available with the company's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. No pricing has been given for the xDrive versions of the car as of yet.

LA Design Challenge invokes biology for 2025 concepts [w/poll]

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

Participants in the annual LA Design Challenge always manage to come up with edgy, wacky designs for future vehicles, but with a theme of "Biomimicry and Mobility: 2025" this year's crop of cars might be the quirkiest we've ever seen. As usual, automotive designers from around the world participated in this year's competition, and all the designs will all be unveiled next week during the LA Auto Show with a winner being announced on November 21.
Chinese automakers made a strong showing with Qoros, SAIC Motor, JAC Motors (the company responsible for the Ford F-150 clone) and Changfeng all bringing interesting takes on the biology, human intelligence and sustainability theme. One of the more innovative ideas among these automakers is the Qoros Silk Road System allows autonomous vehicles to drive in packs similar to how ants travel. Speaking of ants, the SAIC Motor Mobiliant (shown above) gets its design from the shape of an ant's body, and, like the insect, it can climb building acting as a personal elevator as well. The JAC Motors design also merges vehicle and building design, while the Changfeng LaBrea inspired by the design of muscle fibers.
Other entrants include Subaru and US-based design teams for BMW, Toyota and Mazda. BMW's duo of concepts mimic plant and animal life. The LA Subways concept acts as a submersible, single-person vehicle to take advantage of the LA river, with a shape similar to an Ocean Sunfish. The Sustainable Efficient Exploratory Device (SEED) imitates the shape of a seed pod, and uses propulsion methods inspired by a shark, dragonfly and a water bug. Mazda's Auto Adapt might be the most car-like concept of the bunch, while the Subaru Suba-Roo and the Calty-designed, Toyota e-grus are the most mind-blowingly awesome.

Wedding couple celebrates nuptials in the parking lot with donuts

Sat, 21 Dec 2013

Weddings are often joyous, fun-filled occasions full of revelry and some serious celebrating. And while we appreciate the fact that a couple is being joined together, we have a feeling a video like this could have very easily ruined said couple's big day.
It stars a bride, a groom and a BMW M3. But rather than the couple being in the car and laying down some rubber, the E46 M3 is doing donuts around the couple. We shouldn't have to explain why this is a bad idea - even if the driver is competent, this could have gone wrong pretty easily. Still, it didn't, and the end result is pretty cool.
Take a look below and let us know what you think in Comments.
