2005 BMW X3 3.0i for sale by private owner, just over 116,000 miles.

This car has received all regular scheduled maintenance and runs like a beast. Rear suspension and transmission have been recently serviced, and the Cooper tires are also fairly new with plenty of tread left.

I have a CARFAX report available for the buyer that shows this car has had three owners total, and that I've owned the car since 58,000 miles. The car has been in one low-speed accident last year that required replacement of the front bumper cover (airbags didn't even deploy). No history of flood or hail damage. Clear title with no issues.

* Black exterior with minimal chips/scratches
* Black leather interior with no damage to seats
* Original BMW floor mats are in great shape, no stains
* Upgraded sound system with Infiniti speakers and AUX jack built into console
* Navigation unit with 7" screen also functions as MP3 player, Bluetooth phone, back-up camera, has DVD add-on option
* Power seats, power windows, power door locks
* Keyless entry
* OEM alarm system with integrated interior motion sensor, vehicle tip-over sensor (alarm goes off if someone tries to steal your wheels)
* Tow kit installed with 2" hitch
* Huge power panoramic sunroof that covers the front and back seats
* Fold down second row seats
* Headliner is clean with no sags
* Cargo area cover included (a $250 value)

The only damage to the car is as follows:

* Rear bumper cover has some scuffs and mild buckling from backing into something (does not interfere with driving or tow hitch, just cosmetic)
* Cargo area has scuff marks from use on the plastic trim panels
* Windshield has two small rock chips (both are about half the size of a dime and have been repaired by SafeLite, so the windshield will pass inspection)
* Center console needs to be recoated with rubber (I will do this for you before selling the car)
* Front right kidney grille has been repaired, is almost not noticeable unless you were looking for it
* This car has been in one accident since I've owned it, but the damage was less than $2,500 (front bumper cover was replaced, airbags didn't deploy)

Please contact me with any questions! Thanks!

BMW looking to save billions with cost cuts

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

BMW is planning a fairly extensive overhaul in a bid to recoup some its annual costs, with CEO Norbert Reithofer (pictured above) aiming to save three to four billion euro ($4 to $5.4 billion) per year to help keep the company's profit margins between eight and 10 percent, while also maintaining investments in production expansion and new tech. BMW's profit margins sat at 9.4 percent in 2013.
According to Automotive News Europe, Reithofer is none too pleased about costs at Mini and on the 1 Series, although neither AN nor its source story, from Germany's Manager Magazin, elaborate on what steps could be taken to improve losses on either project. That makes it hard to figure out just where the fat will be trimmed from.
What may happen, though, is that BMW attempts to trim 100 million euros ($135 million) from its German labor costs each year; a solution hinted at a few weeks ago by Germany newspaper Muenchner Merkur. While a dramatic cost reduction, 100 million euros still doesn't begin to even approach the savings envisioned by Reithofer.

Alex Zanardi back in the driver's seat with BMW

Tue, 21 Jan 2014

If there's ever been an inspirational story in the pantheon of motor racing history, surely it's that of Alessandro Zanardi. The Italian driver worked his way up the motor racing ladder, making it into Formula One and winning two CART championships for Chip Ganassi Racing back before the series re-merged into IndyCars. Tragedy struck in 2001 when he lost both his legs in a crash at the Lausitzring in Germany, but rather than accept his fate, Alex pushed on. Fitted with prosthetic limbs, he learned to drive a racing car with hand controls and got back in the driver's seat.
Zanardi drove for BMW in the European Touring Car Championship and then in the World Touring Car Championship that replaced it, landing on the podium several times despite his physical disadvantage. He left racing in 2009 to train for the Paralympics, winning two gold medals in London, but Alex apparently couldn't shake the racing bug. BMW modified one of its M3 DTM racers with hand controls for him to test later that year. And now he's returning to motor racing full time.
BMW has just announced that Zanardi will be driving a Z4 GT3 in the Blancpain Sprint Series, the successor to the FIA GT Series and short-distance counterpart to the Blancpain Endurance Series. The car has been modified with the hand controls the Bavarian automaker's racing department fitted to the aforementioned M3 DTM and will be fielded by the ROAL Motorsport team with which Alex challenged for the European Touring Car Championship last decade.

2016 BMW X5 M is big and bold, not beautiful

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

Awesome as it is, the BMW X5 M has never really been an attractive machine. Big and bulgy are the themes here, and that's only more pronounced with the X5's most recent refresh. But no matter, the X5 M has never been about looks - for this machine, it's all about performance, and BMW's hi-po crossover absolutely delivers in this regard.
Under the hood is the familiar 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8, though power has been boosted to 567 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque - healthy increases of 12 and 53, respectively, compared to the outgoing model. Hitting 60 miles per hour is said to take just four seconds, which is damn impressive considering this thing weighs well over 5,000 pounds.
But the X5 M has always been shockingly good to drive, with limits you'll never reach except in the most hardcore track scenarios (which we'd really like to see, by the way). It's not the prettiest thing ever, but that's okay. It's not exactly cheap, though, with prices starting at $99,650. Woof.
