2003 Bmw X5 4.4i Awd Black W Leather 162553miles Loaded on 2040-cars
Eden Prairie, Minnesota, United States
Loaded with every feature available on the E53-M62 BMW X.5 4.4i for 2003 including front and rear heated leather seats - with the exception of the towing package. This SUV is being sold as is - it has no known wreck history but needs repairs. It was drivable until two weeks ago (May 2014) when the front axel broke. Towed to BMW dealer who removed front axel. To be drivable front axel needs to be replaced - cost between $500 - 1200 dep upon aftermarket axel or OEM. Front driver window motor needs to be replaced with door switch. BMW also recommended the following repairs but said it is drivable without: Both rear upper control arms due for replacement. LR differential out put shaft seal is leaking very slightly. Power steering suction hose leaking at resevoir.Thrust bindings are tearing. Crankcase vent sys failed a year ago. Auxillary fan switch leaking.Valve cover leaking oil slightly. There are several dents in the right rear passenger door where kid on bike ran into car when parked. Two tears in privacy tint.Car has new tires as of May 2014 - few radio and dash led pixels burned out. Otherwise, until the axel broke the car drove wonderfully. It needs a good detail as we used it for gardening. If you have the knowledge to do the repairs yourself this car could be in perfect condition for around $1800 to $2500 in parts (rough estimate). With a good interior detail and a buff and shine it is one of the best looking cars on the road. Recently had brakes replaced, new battery, new self-leveling sys on rear, new driver door lock and mechanism, new rear lift hatch new All Season tires in April 2014. You can come by and see car, start it and hear engine run but until axel replaced it will not drive. Purchaser will need to arrange to have car towed or shipped within ten days of purchase. We are willing to assist in coordination of tow or ship but buyer pays 100% of all cost. Have bmw printout of repair needs for serious buyer. All repair items from BMW dealer listed above. Again the car is offered as is. |

2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe
Fri, 06 Jun 2014It's hard to say what a coupe is anymore. Is it merely a car with two doors? Does it have to have an arching roofline? Do frameless windows count for anything? Can a five-door hatchback or even an SUV be a coupe? At some point in the last few years, nearly everything we thought made a coupe a coupe has been challenged by something that calls itself a coupe, but to most people isn't. Our friends at BMW have led most of this line of questioning.
The new 2015 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is one of the latest Bimmers to challenge the moniker (which also challenges the idea of "Gran," for that matter), and unlike some of its other "coupe" variations - we're looking at you, X6 - this one is a pretty one. The 4 Series Gran Coupe is essentially a four-door version of the 4 Series, which is itself a two-door version of the 3 Series. Huh? Wouldn't that simply make it another 3 Series? Of course, but this one is prettier, as it uses the 4's sexier body styling, with its lower nose, wider-looking stance and edgier lighting graphics. It is also technically a five-door hatchback, not a sedan per se, and it utilizes frameless side door glass, which apparently does count for something in BMW coupe-land. Significantly, the 4 Gran Coupe's wheelbase is identical to the two-door; if it was longer - as is the case with the 3 Series and 5 Series hatchbacks - that might make it a "Gran Turismo." Confused yet?
We recently got our first chance to drive the 4 Series Gran Coupe at a press launch in Spain, and while the only version we were given was a rear-drive 428i Gran Coupe with the M Sport contents, the harrowing roads around Bilbao gave us a good idea of what this car is all about from a driving dynamics standpoint. Here's some of what we found:
Is the BMW i8 actually already sold out?
Mon, 02 Dec 2013The other day we brought you a report from Reuters, which quoted BMW's global sales chief Ian Robertson as saying that the Bavarian automaker had already sold out the entire year's production run of its new i8. Impressive, sure, but perhaps not all that unusual for a groundbreaking new sportscar from a major automaker, of which only limited quantities are typically built. But is the i8 really sold out?
Our compatriots at Car and Driver chased down the story and report that Robertson's claims aren't exactly accurate. According to C/D, the numbers are based on sales projections, not actual orders taken. So while BMW may build upwards of 1,900 i8 coupes next year and over 5,000 in 2015, and while they're all expected to sell, that doesn't mean that it's too late to get your order in. That is, assuming you have the $135k on hand and don't mind getting just three cylinders back in return.
BMW working on 'FAST' CUV to slot between X1 and 2 Series
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Our spy shooters have caught a new FAST BMW testing that's rumored to hit the market in late 2015. Sadly, the word fast in that last sentence isn't describing the car's performance; instead it's an acronym that stands for Family Active Sports Tourer. Talk about a case of false advertising.
Despite it's speedy name, the FAST doesn't look ready to set any Nürburgring lap records. It rides on BMW's modular, front-wheel drive UKL platform that underpins the current generation Mini Cooper, upcoming 2 Series Active Tourer and next X1. According to our spies, its design is supposed to blend the looks of a wagon and a CUV on the outside with a large, useful interior. Conceivably, it could be offered with the hybrid system from the 2 Series, as well.
The new prototype definitely shares the styling of its front-wheel-drive BMW siblings. Up to the A-pillar, it looks pretty similar to what we know about the future X1. But the FAST has a more arched profile and lower ride height compared to the crossover's chunkier, more conventional design.
