1996 BMW Z3 Roadster Convertible, 5 Speed Manual Transmission, Custom 19" Wheels, Red & Black, Very Low Miles, Collectors Car .... This is a very beautiful example of the first year BMW Z3. It has been a 'Garage Queen' for many years. I have owned the vehicle for several years. It had 27,900 miles on it when I purchased it and the vehicle now has 30,942 miles. The wheels and tires were new less than 4,000 miles ago. The exhaust pipe system was recently replaced and the battery was also recently replaced. An aftermarket WowAuto sound system has been installed with CD, Radio, TV and IPOD type musical connectivity. The last picture shows the retractable WowAuto flat panel control screen and also the TV / mirror adapter.
This is a highly collectible vehicle that is also very enjoyable to drive. The overall condition of this vehicle is superb. Maintenance has been performed at BMW Dealerships. The interior leather and exterior paint and convertible top are all in very good condition. This vehicle drives wonderfully and there are no mechanical or driving issues.
I am in the process of a pending move and so I have decided to sell this classic BMW Z3. I recently took the car in for California smog certification and was advised by the smog technician that the emissions are very clean, however, the 'drive cycle ready monitors' are not setting so the final step of the smog certification could not be passed. They provided a drive cycle sequence of speeds and RPM's that the vehicle should run in order for the drive cycle ready monitors to set.
This vehicle is being sold without meeting the "CA Smog Certification" requirement. "The purchaser will be required to sign an agreement that the CA Smog Certification responsibility will be assumed by them".
If you need additional pictures of any particular portion of this vehicle I will provide them. The car is located in Temecula, CA and you are welcome to have a mechanic of your choice evaluate the vehicle before you bid.
Pick-up is in Temecula, CA.
Payment by cash or cashiers check only.

2016 BMW 7 Series spied for the first time ever
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Ladies and gentlemen, Bimmerphiles and automotive voyeurs of all stripes: here is your next-generation BMW 7 Series. Captured in photographs for the first time ever while doing a spot of cold-weather testing in Sweden, this newly slim 7er will most likely debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015 and launch in the 2016 model year.
Sources indicate that BMW is targeting a much lighter curb weight for the 7 Series, and will use learnings gained with the i3 and i8 development to add carbon fiber-reinforced plastics in the construction. In return we'd expect the new model - which uses the internal model designation "G11" - to offer improvements in handling, acceleration and fuel economy. As with the current 7 Series lineup, expect the engine range to include turbocharged inline-six engines, one or more V8s and a V12 option.
It's fair to say that, with the car's debut still years down the road, that BMW will work to launch with an impressive suite of in-car technology, too. A completely new version of iDrive shouldn't be ruled out. These shots mark the beginning of a long journey to 2015, and we expect to have loads more information to share in the coming months and years, so stay tuned.
2014 BMW M5 facelift shows up online
Tue, 14 May 2013Is it that time already? Like its predecessors, the current BMW M5 has been endangering US licenses since it first went on sale here in 2012, but its design became a known quantity back at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. Apparently that also means that the F10 generation has already grown tired enough to the "Must Have Latest Set" who can afford these sorts of super saloons that a facelift is in order.
If these leaked images sourced from Autocar are anything to go by, BMW stylists have used a predictably light hand to rework their hottest 5 Series, with a revised grille that echoes the M6 along with modestly resculpted headlamps. The rear end appears wholly unaltered. Interior changes gleaned from a look at the cabin photos include an updated touchpad-equipped iDrive controller and a new steering wheel cribbed from the M6.
No new word on changes to the 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 powertrain, but in late April, we heard that BMW was readying new competition packages for the M5 and M6. The packages are said to include 15 more horsepower, revised suspension and steering, along with new wheels and blackened exhaust tips. Given that BMW is known for habitually underrating its cars' horsepower outputs (particularly its M models) we can't help but wonder if its engineers will need to do anything other than wave a magic wand to corral those extra ponies underhood...
Meet the inventor of the BMW 3 Series wagon
Sat, 11 May 2013It's hard to imagine, but once upon a time, there were only two BMW 3 Series variants: the coupe and sedan. Back before gran coupes, convertibles and yes, even touring models were available, buyers could only get their 3 Series fix if it came with two or four doors and a fixed roof. Back in the mid '80s, BMW engineer Max Reisbock was having some trouble fitting his whole family into his four door. Rather than suck it up and buy a van, he picked up a wrecked 3 Series and got to cutting in a buddy's garage. Months later, he had the very first 3 Series Touring ever built.
At first, he kept the the car to himself, using it to haul friends and family around, but he eventually showed it off to his friends at work. When the BMW executives found out about his project, they called him up to take a closer look. After putting an eyeball on the car, they took it, copied his design, made a few tweaks and quickly rolled out the first production 3 Series Touring. How's that for validation? Check out the video below for Reisbock's story.
