Up for sale is my 1997 BMW Z3. The car is in overall "good" condition. The car is not a daily driver. I usually drive less than 300 miles a month. It is a blast to drive! The tires have 3,000 miles on them. I replaced the antenna, antenna grommet, fixed saggy glove box, replaced leather on driver's seat left bolster, and replaced the radio with Pioneer radio. The top is original and lets the car down a bit cosmetically. It shows wear but does not leak. The door pull on driver's door is broke at the top. A new OEM one costs around $120 but, this doesn't effect the use of door. The seats have the "back and forth" play that is common on these cars. I do have the repair kit that needs to be installed. I will give this to the successful bidder. The driver's seat power button switch is broke. The seat still moves forward and back but, you can not lower the bottom. This does not effect the recline function. The fuel gauge is not always accurate. The needle jumps around if you smack the binnacle. The low fuel light is not effected and functions 100%. I believe this is either the gauge or a bad connection. The brakes have a little noise when applied. This is due to sitting. You can see a little rust built up on them. You can see in the pics this is not severe. I just drove the car 300+ miles with no issue. I would drive this car anywhere. The car has a couple of dings, chips and small dents. I think it still looks good for it's age. I also have the tonneau cover for the top when it's down. Honestly If you are looking for a nice car that needs a little TLC, this is a good car for you! 2015 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe priced from $118,225* [w/poll]
Wed, 05 Mar 2014If you're in the market for a high-performance BMW and you live in Europe, you've typically had two range of options at your disposal: you could go for one of BMW's own M models, or turn to Alpina. Though technically independent of BMW, Alpina is about as close to the manufacturer as a tuner can get, and many of its models are offered through BMW's own dealer network.
That's overseas, but in the North American market, BMW has typically taken a different approach, offering just one Alpina model - the B7 - to fill in for a lack of M7 performance sedan. That all changes, however, with the debut of the BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe.
Slotting in alongside the M6 Gran Coupe, the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is marginally more expensive and slightly less powerful, but makes up for those relative (and negligible) shortcomings in spades. Both are based on the 6 Series Gran Coupe and both pack a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, but with key differences. Where the M6 produces 560 horsepower, the Alpina offers 'only' 540. But where the M6 channels 500 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Alpina drives 540 lb-ft to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
European car sales up 8% in February
Sat, 22 Mar 2014Three weeks ago an analyst increased projections for European car sales this year, expecting them to climb three percent compared to last year instead of 2.7 percent. That number is a postive sign after years of hard times but it turns out February was especially good, overall European sales climbing eight percent on a wave of southern European recovery and discounts - and this comes after five months of gains including January's 7.2-percent jump over the year before.
The only country of Europe's five largest markets to post a decline was France, just as it did in January, Germany, the UK and Italy posting solid double-digit numbers, Spain rocking the charts with an 18-percent increase because of a government program to encourage trade-ins.
The only brand to miss the wave was Volkswagen, dropping 0.8 percent as it watched the double-digit growth at sister brands Audi, Seat and Skoda lift the Volkswagen Group sales up by seven-percent. Peugeot overcame flat sales at Citroën to improve the group by 3.5 percent, BMW and the Mercedes-Benz/Smart combo rose by four percent, the Fiat group jumped 5.8 percent, Ford was up 11 percent, the Renault Group 11.5 percent, General Motors 12 percent and the Toyota clan by 14 percent.

Traditionally, nominations for the Autoblog Technology of the Year award are earned for specific developments - a new-think powertrain, a uniquely developed material, a groundbreaking smartphone app, or what have you. In the case of BMW's marvelous i8, it so bristles with novel applied sciences and fresh features that we broke with tradition and nominated the entire car.
We just couldn't help ourselves. Oh, we could've focused on the i8's carbon-fiber monocoque, or its well-resolved plug-in-hybrid powertrain that incorporates a tiny 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and an electric motor, or its seamless through-the-road all-wheel drive. This is a car that will even have frickin' laser beams for headlights - at least it will for our friends in Europe (and it will in the US, should our legislators ever catch up).
