I thought that I would never ever sell this car, but things change.  I am selling my dream 1987 Buick Grand National that is in mint condition with only 15,215 miles on it.  It is all stock except for:  newer high dollar show paint, newer battery, brand new headliner, brand new floor mats, brand new valve cover gaskets, chrome turbo cover, brand new GNX/GTA rims, tires, lug nut covers, and center caps.  The only reason for the base/clear paint was because the original paint was checking as all Grand Nationals did.  This paint job is better than the factory paint ever was.  The paint and body are a strong 9.7 out of 10, and that is being picky.  The interior is a a 9.5 out of 10 only because it is not a brand new car.  Never smoked in.  Interior still smells new.  Body has NO rust at all and never has.  Everything works except for the A/C.  It just needs a recharge.  I have the original rims with all of the original caps and lugs.  The rims even have the original tires on them still.  The rims would need to be re-chromed to be in show condition.  The previous owner stored them in his musty basement and they have some surface rust.  The only other flaw in the whole car is the driver side window weather strip that runs diagonal and vertical has a tear in it.
My car runs, drives, shifts, and handles just like it did when it came from the factory as a new car.  It is 99% stock and still has the factory 1987 exhaust system.  It has never been beaten, raced, crashed, or pushed beyond its limits.  It has been a show car and weekend toy its whole life.  Always kept in a climate controlled garage and stored properly during the winter.  Look at all of the pictures.  You can take my car to your favorite car show as it sits.  It is fully detailed and just waxed with Pinnacle wax (the best you can buy).   If you are in the market for one of the nicest Grand Nationals under $25,000 in the country, this is it.  This very rare, low mile, stock, investment quality, beauty would look incredible in your garage...wouldn't it???
Note:  I still owe a few dollars on the loan that I used this car as collateral for.  The title is at my local credit union, and can be easily obtained.  If you have any questions or would like to see the car in person, just e-mail.  Thank you for looking.

J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.

Small number of 2013 Buick Encore models recalled for loose steering wheel

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

General Motors has issued a recall and a stop sale for the 2013 Buick Encore due to an issue that could result in the steering wheel falling off on certain models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that 144 Encores equipped with heated steering wheels could have been incorrectly retrofitted due to a parts shortage.
Needless to say, a loose or separated steering wheel would likely cause an accident if it happened while the vehicle was in motion. The recall doesn't go into effect until April 12, but concerned Encore owners can use the official recall notice (attached below) to contact GM.

The Future Buick Verano Convertible?
I wasn't wearing a pedometer while in Germany covering the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it's safe to say I walked more than a few miles between press conferences, shooting cars and trekking back to the media center on the first day alone. For this reason, it didn't take much convincing from General Motors for me to duck out of the Messe a day early and drive some of its latest Opel models. No, this didn't include the all-new Country Tourer, but I was able to drive the Opel Mokka (our Buick Encore), the Opel Adam and the Opel Cascada.
I focused most of my driving time behind the wheel of the Cascada, which went on sale in Europe earlier this year, since rumors are swirling that a Buick version of this convertible "could happen soon." Buick hasn't had a convertible since the Reatta, and GM has been lacking a non-performance, budget-minded convertible since the Pontiac brand - and its G6 - was dropped, so adding the Cascada to Buick showrooms could further help the reemerging brand compete in the near-luxury segment. Although the weather was too chilly (and occasionally rainy) to enjoy the Cascada with its top down for very long, I was able to clock a fair bit of drive time behind the wheel on roads ranging from the autobahn to tight roads in small, quaint villages.
