1991 Buick Reatta Base Convertible 2-door 3.8l on 2040-cars
Haughton, Louisiana, United States
This auction is for a 1991 Buick Reatta
convertible in mint condition. No
scratches, no dings. It only has 8,569
miles. It has new Michelin tires with
less than 500 miles on them. It has a
new Optima battery. The A/C has been
professionally converted to 134A refrigerant.
It comes with a custom car cover.
The original radio stopped working, so we replaced it with a GM factory
radio with CD player and equalizer. It
was a plug and play installation, so no wires were cut, and it sounds
awesome. As you can see from the
picture, the LED on the radio matches the other dash display perfectly. We’ll include the original non-working radio
in case you want to put it back to stock. The Buick Reatta
is a sport coupe designed by GM which was powered by a 3.8 liter V6. It was the
first car Buick advertised as a two-seater since the 1940 Buick model 46. It
was a handmade luxury sports coupe produced at the Lansing Craft Centre in
Lansing, Michigan and sold by the Buick division of American automaker General
Motors from early 1988 to 1991. Like the Cadillac Allant?, it was based on a
shortened version of the GM E platform used by the Cadillac Eldorado,
Oldsmobile Toronado and particularly the Buick Riviera, with which it shared
many mechanical parts, advanced electronics, and interior furnishings. The Reatta sported its own unique body style and was crafted with an attention to hand finishing uncommon for a mass-produced automobile. The assembly was performed at a small series of craft stations - each with a specialized team of workers, rather than a conventional assembly line. After a team had completed their portion of the assembly, the car would be moved by robots to the next station in the series. All of the paintwork was subcontracted to PPG Industries personnel - who performed the work on site. Every Reatta included a leather book containing the owner's manual and pen. In 1990 and 1991, a zippered owner’s folio was included. In addition to the owner’s manual, it also contained a "Craftsman's Log" with the signatures of the supervisors for the assembly of the car at the various craft stations. These slightly unusual items were an attempt to sell the mass-produced car as one built with individual care. This auction includes this owner’s folio. Also included is the original window sticker and a brochure for 1991 Buick cars and a CD about the Buick Reatta. This car was 1 of only 305 convertibles manufactured during the last year of production for the Reatta. This car comes from a smoke-free home and has been kept covered, in a garage. In my honest opinion, this car would satisfy any collector or someone looking for a new car. This car is being sold, as is, without a warranty. Shipping (both arranging and cost) is the responsibility of the Buyer. Local pickup is available. Upon completion of the auction, a deposit of $500 is due within 2 business days. Remainder of the purchase price is due within 7 days from close of auction. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please feel free to contact us. |

The importance of Angel Eyes, Ventiports and four round taillights
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Just the other day, we told you about how Lincoln isn't really a luxury brand, according to Ford's head design man, J Mays. His argument was that Lincoln lacked the unique DNA to differentiate it from the rest of the market, although the arrival of the MKZ is beginning to change that. Now, we have this video from Autoline Detroit, where Jim Hall, an analyst for 2953 Analytics who was quoted in yesterday's Lincoln story, explains the influence of certain styling cues and how they impact the brands.
Using BMW (Angel Eyes) and Buick (Ventiports) as examples for small, simple touches that serve to distinguish the brand's vehicles on the road, Hall then points out how changing trademark styling features, as Chevrolet has done on the new Corvette Stingray, can hurt the vehicle's public perception. Take a look at the full video below for an interesting dive into what these styling features mean to their individual brands.
GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
Buick version of Equinox/Terrain CUV spied testing... with autonomous gear?
Wed, 12 Jun 2013Let's get the most pressing bits of this story out of the way right off the bat: What we see here appears to be a new compact crossover from Buick. According to the spy photographer, this machine may be a little bit smaller on the outside than the current Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain 'utes, which makes sense since recent rumors suggest GM's small crossovers will migrate to a new platform that will mark a convergence between the automaker's Delta (Chevy Cruze, Buick Verano) and Theta (Equinox, Terrain) platforms. This Buick would likely use this new D2UX platform.
We've been expecting Buick to unleash a crossover to slot between the very small Encore and the very large Enclave, and various rumors have indicated that the model may be known as either the Anthem or Envision. It's worth mentioning that Buick had planned, back in 2009, to release a vehicle in the compact CUV market, but abandoned those plans after a particularly poor reception.
And now for something completely different... Take another look at the spy shots above, and pay special attention to the cylindrical device mounted to the vehicle's roof. We can't say for sure what it is, but our spy photographer opines that it looks quite a bit like the 360-degree Lidar camera equipment used by Google for its autonomous cars. Is General Motors working with Google on autonomous car technology? We don't know, but you can definitely consider us intrigued.
