I am selling this car because I would like to see it go to a good home, where it will be restored properly and appreciated.  My ex-husband was supposed to help me restore it but he has moved out and unfortunately I won't be able to do anything with it myself.  I bought it for $5000 appx 5 yrs ago - drove it home (fun to drive!) and it has been in the garage ever since.  It's obviously in need of new paint so the first thing he did was take the motor out (also in the garage on motor stand) and start to prepare for sand-blasting/painting.  So, unfortunately you won't be able to take it for a test drive.  Hopefully to a GN enthusiast, that won't matter.    It has 98,900 original miles and clean interior.  There is some rust on the driver's side door and trunk lid but he bought a clean trunk lid you can have - he said it would need a new driver's side door as well but everything else is solid.  You'll see a few pictures of how it looked when I brought it home but most of the other pictures were taken after he started prepping for paint (no headlights or tail lights, etc.)  I do have all 4 stock wheels.

Other than that, I don't know much about it other than it's one of 5,512 GNs manufactured in 1986.  You see fewer and fewer of these cars all the time - if properly restored, this car could be worth in excess of $20,000 according to NADA.  I really wish I had the knowledge and skills to restore it myself!  Happy bidding!

I reserve the right to cancel this auction prior to auction end date as the car is also listed for sale locally.

Small number of 2013 Buick Encore models recalled for loose steering wheel

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

General Motors has issued a recall and a stop sale for the 2013 Buick Encore due to an issue that could result in the steering wheel falling off on certain models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that 144 Encores equipped with heated steering wheels could have been incorrectly retrofitted due to a parts shortage.
Needless to say, a loose or separated steering wheel would likely cause an accident if it happened while the vehicle was in motion. The recall doesn't go into effect until April 12, but concerned Encore owners can use the official recall notice (attached below) to contact GM.

OnStar RemoteLink mobile app coming standard on all new GM vehicles

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

As an evolution and improvement of its OnStar technology, General Motors has announced that it will be expanding the RemoteLink Mobile App on most 2014 model year Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. The new, aptly named RemoteLink Key Fob Services will allow users to remotely operate all of the same systems as the car's key fob, including locking and unlocking the doors and remote starting (on vehicles equipped with a factory remote starter) using a smartphone.
These Key Fob Services will be free for five years - starting from the vehicle's delivery date - but the full suite of RemoteLink features will continue to be offered only with a subscription (trial or paid). These premium features include contacting a live adviser, getting turn-by-turn directions and remotely monitoring the vehicle's diagnostic systems.

Movie Review: Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary

Thu, 06 Dec 2012

As Buick currently claws and scratches its way back into relevance to compete against luxury brands like Lexus and Acura, it's hard to believe that not too long ago, the brand had a car that was mentioned in the same breath as Corvette, Lamborghini and Ferrari. That car? None other than the Buick Grand National. All black with a turbocharged V6 and some of the quickest acceleration of its time, the Grand National, in today's standards, is along the lines of a 2013 Shelby GT500 with both cars essentially being a working man's supercar.
The last Grand National rolled off the assembly line in Flint, MI on December 11, 1987, and to mark the silver anniversary of that somber occasion, Black Air is a documentary of the Grand National from the perspective of the enthusiast, the collector, the media and even from those at General Motors responsible for creating such a sinister legend. Like the car itself, Andrew Filippone Jr. shoots the documentary in a raw fashion, and it definitely helps to show why a low-volume muscle car from the 1980s is still the object of obsession for many automotive enthusiasts to this day.
