1992 Buick Roadmaster Limited Sedan 4-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Sterling, Colorado, United States
This vehicle has been owned by two families. We purchased it from the original owner when she could no longer drive. The car began life as the around-town car of an elderly lady. With us, it was first a vehicle for a regional sales position, then a daily commuter for approximately 100 miles per day, then a weekly commuter for a college student, about 300 miles per week. Eventually she retired to "backup car" status, and has had fewer trips of late.
She runs beautifully still, and has nearly-new tires. The vehicle retains much of the original equipment - in fact it still has all 4 factory floor mats, and the original owners manual. She needs a bit of a tune up, as she is presently running in the 17-20 MPG range but has been known to get closer to 22-26. In addition to new tires, the vehicle comes with a full spare, as well as all of the original trunk equipment. One of the few features not presently working on the vehicle is the instrument cluster, particularly speedometer, which controls cruise and mileage. The mileage on the odometer is not accurate. The original 5.7 Liter Engine was completely rebuilt, top to bottom, in 2010 or 2011. We have all the paperwork on this rebuild, and the actual mileage on the rebuilt motor is in the 40-60k range, mostly interstate commute. The car has been regularly maintained, and is in good working order. My daughter is having difficulty with the RW drive aspect of the vehicle, and with a Corvette Engine, the Road master is no longer a viable backup with a young driver in the house. We are downgrading to something with a little less power and Front Wheel Drive. I can't tell you how much I will miss this car. |

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC
Sun, 06 Oct 2013American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.
eBay Find of the Day: 1981 DeLorean with 570-hp twin-turbo Buick V6 [w/videos]
Mon, 23 Dec 2013"Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?" So asked one Marty McFly of his mentor Dr. Emmett Brown, who replied: "The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?"
Doc Brown was right, of course: with an exotic mid-engine layout, gullwing doors and stainless steel body, the DeLorean DMC-12 sure looked the part. It just needed a little more juice. Well this one might not have 1.21 gigawatts of time-bending power - that'd be more than one and a half million horsepower - but it does have more than the 150 hp in the the standard 2.8-liter V6.
That's because this particular DeLorean has had its stock Peugeot Renault Volvo engine swapped out for a Buick-sourced, all-aluminum, 4.3-liter V6 from the Grand National. Dutteiller Performance didn't leave the engine in stock form, either: while they were swapping it out, they added a pair of turbochargers, new pistons, crank, cams and much, much more.
Buick version of Equinox/Terrain CUV spied testing... with autonomous gear?
Wed, 12 Jun 2013Let's get the most pressing bits of this story out of the way right off the bat: What we see here appears to be a new compact crossover from Buick. According to the spy photographer, this machine may be a little bit smaller on the outside than the current Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain 'utes, which makes sense since recent rumors suggest GM's small crossovers will migrate to a new platform that will mark a convergence between the automaker's Delta (Chevy Cruze, Buick Verano) and Theta (Equinox, Terrain) platforms. This Buick would likely use this new D2UX platform.
We've been expecting Buick to unleash a crossover to slot between the very small Encore and the very large Enclave, and various rumors have indicated that the model may be known as either the Anthem or Envision. It's worth mentioning that Buick had planned, back in 2009, to release a vehicle in the compact CUV market, but abandoned those plans after a particularly poor reception.
And now for something completely different... Take another look at the spy shots above, and pay special attention to the cylindrical device mounted to the vehicle's roof. We can't say for sure what it is, but our spy photographer opines that it looks quite a bit like the 360-degree Lidar camera equipment used by Google for its autonomous cars. Is General Motors working with Google on autonomous car technology? We don't know, but you can definitely consider us intrigued.
