THIS IS MY BABY, BUT I HAVE TO PASS HER ON.  TIMES ARE HARD OR I WOULD NEVER SELL HER.  SHE IS ALMOST SHOWROOM PERFECT- NOT RESTORED, BUT WELL KEPT. SHE HAS NEW ORIGINAL PAINT AND CARPET, INCLUDING THE TRUNK AND I SMOOTHED OFF THE FAKE PORTHOLES AND REAR PANEL, ADDING DEEP DISHED CHROME WHEELS.  FOR THE PURISTS I JUST HEARD GASPING, IT GOES BACK TO STOCK EASILY! STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL WHEELS AND PERFECT COVERS.

AT THE PORTLAND ALL BUICK SHOW A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, THEY DEDUCTED FOR MY REPLACED CARPET AND RENEWED PAINT- ALMOST A PERFECT SCORE.  IT RUNS OUT AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS AND WE COMPLETED THE 400 MILE OREGON TOUR TWO YEARS AGO WITHOUT INCIDENT.  I'D DRIVE IT ANYWHERE, INCLUDING TO YOUR PLACE FOR EXPENSES, IF YOU BUY IT.

AS YOU CAN SEE, IT JUST TURNED 60,000 MILES WHICH I WILL ATTEST TO.  THERE ARE COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SPARE PARTS, INCLUDING A REBUILDABLE SPARE MOTOR, REBUILT TRANS STILL IN BOX, SWITCHES, CHROME, BODY PARTS, LIGHTS, ETC.  I SPENT OVER FOUR YEARS COLLECTING THESE INSURANCE PARTS- THE BEST OUT THERE.

THIS IS A REAL PIECE OF AMERICANA, A UNIQUE BIT OF AUTOMOTIVE HISTORY.  THIS IS THE FIRST  (ONLY?) STOCK BLOCK AMERICAN ENGINE TO QUALIFY AT INDY, AMERICA'S FIRST ALL ALUMINUM ENGINE, AND COMES TANTALIZINGLY CLOSE TO THAT OLD HIGHLY SOUGHT 'ONE HORSEPOWER PER CUBIC INCH' GOAL- THE '63 MODEL HAD 200 HP!  THIS ONE IS 190.  I THINK ONE OF THESE DAYS THESE RARE CARS WILL BE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER.  RIGHT NOW IT'S JUST A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF CHROME MUSCLE CARS, ON A SMALL SCALE.  VERY DEPENDABLE AND A HEAD-TURNER, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

GM recalls over 230,000 more Trailblazer-family SUVs over door electronics

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

Back in August, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall on the General Motors GMT360 SUVs (Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X) ranging from the 2005 to 2007 model years and the 2006 GMT370 SUVs (Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL) due to potential fires associated with the driver's door module. Initially limited to 250,000 units sold or registered in 20 Snow Belt states (and the District of Columbia), the recall has now been expanded to include an additional 193,000 of these SUVs in the US and, according to The Detroit News, 40,000 more sold outside the US, including Canada and Mexico.
Like the original recall, the issue is still a faulty driver's door module that can short out, which could lead to a fire. The Detroit News is reporting that, out of the 443,000 units being recalled, GM says that there were 58 fires that caused 11 minor injuries, and the expanded recall accounted for six fires and one injury. Despite the lower number of fires, the recall notice recommends that owners park their vehicles until the recall repairs has been performed.
On recalled units with functional modules, the repair consists of a protective coating being applied to the module, while vehicles with modules that are not working properly will have the driver's door module replaced. The official recall notice is posted below, and it includes contact information for customers of all five brands.

Buick might be getting a logo makeover

Fri, 23 Nov 2012

General Motors has finished off an extensive model overhaul for its Buick division, but along with its updated cars, the brand might also be getting a new logo. According to the Detroit Free Press, GM North America President Mark Reuss indicated that the Buick tri-shield logo could be getting a makeover, but offered no further information.
It is unlikely Buick will completely redesign or replace its current logo, but the article seems to indicate that it might return to color; although all chrome now, the logo used to feature red, white and blue shields. Head on over to the Detroit Free Press article to look at some past Buick logos including one from 1904.

GM announces 6 recalls covering nearly 720k cars

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

General Motors has announced yet another sprawling recall campaign, with six separate elements covering 717,950 vehicles on US roads. At this point in 2014, it's starting to seem like there are more days with a GM recall than without. Perhaps most troubling about this latest volley, though, is that every vehicle is from the past few years, indicating that GM's quality woes may not be limited to pre-bankruptcy vehicles.
The largest element of this latest campaign covers 414,333 units, and includes the 2011 to 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, 2010 to 2012 Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX and the 2011 to 2012 Buick Regal and LaCrosse. Only vehicles with powered, height-adjustable seats are covered. In these particular cars and crossovers, the bolt that secures the height adjuster actuator may loosen of its own accord and in some cases fall out completely. If this happens, the seats will be able to move both up and down. GM claims the vehicles are safe to drive, provided drivers don't vertically adjust their seats. This particular issue has caused one crash and three injuries.
