1969 Buick Skylark Gs Tribute Pristine Original Documented Survivor on 2040-cars
Lee's Summit, Missouri, United States
I found this car on my mail route last summer and passed it on to my inlaws in arkansas, they have enjoyed it for about a year and just purchased 18 acres and are going to build a house so they are passing it on to the next care taker. 350 2 barrel automatic on column, power sterring, a/c 73,000 original miles. I drove it from arkansas back to lees summit this morning (4 hours on the 21st) and it ran beautifully. Dorothy archer bought it new from dunn buick in oklahoma city ok on 8-27-69, it spent part of it's life there and then she moved to ellinwood ks, she owned it up until 2008, the story i got was that she drove it to woodstock in 69, the second owner also lived in kansas. He did the gs conversion (original gs hood and gs badges, brand new magnum 500 wheels and bf goodrich t/a's) the gold was repainted because of the original badge holes, the white painted top is original paint. I have about 23 pieces of documentation/records, the protectoplate the pre delivery checklist with protectoplate embossed on it, warranty book with protectoplate numbers on it, insurance policies, service records from sears, montgomery wards and her local shop, original dealership key chain, manuals and booklets, there is a plastic holder on the dash with service dates from 2007 from the shop in ellinwood, there are oil change dates and oil type written in grease pen from the 80's on the fan shroud along with some factory chalk marks on the firewall. This buick is unbelievable, it's the only classic car that i have experienced that starts runs and drives just like new, high idle kicks down twice to normal idle, suspension acts just like new, doors shut and lock like new, windows work like new. The interior is all original parchment/ black except for the carpet i think, it usually fades after 45 years, and the kick panels are plastic with speakers in them but the original am radio. The dash is pristine speedometer is smooth and true no jumping around a/c blows ice cold. My father in law drove it to arkansas last summer with the a/c on and got 18 mpg. Headliner door panels rear deck all in excellent shape. Exterior and paint are in excellent condition, glass is excellent, stainless and chrome are excellent, door handles in and out and window cranks excellent no pitting. This car has never been taken apart, the weatherstripping is original and still soft nothing is cracked or brittle, body is super solid, there is light surface rust on the underneath of floor pans as you can see in pics, you can still see the bare metal, unbelievable. It wouldn't surprise me if it has never sat outside it's entire life. The motor runs smooth and strong no smoking oil consumption, or leaking, tranny shifts smooth fluid smells good. I drove it 80 mph most of the way back from arkansas, i let go of the wheel it drove strait, brakes straight, everything on the car works like new, all lights work, Last summer i changed oil belts and hoses and tuned it up not knowing the age of this stuff and the the fact he was driving it 4 hours to arkansas. I have heard this my whole life "i would drive this car cross country" but i think this car has proven that. This car hasn't sat and sat and sat, it has been driven sparingly every year and meticulously maintained, i I can also imagine reading this that it sounds like a bunch of b. s. but i can't say enough about this car, and my feedback has always been 100% and i intend to keep it that way. I do body paint and restoration on muscle cars on the side, so i know what i'm looking at, i have had, bought and sold a lot of cars and this is the best one yet, even after a total restoration cars don't feel like this one like it did when new, i also have gotten compliments from craigslist and ebay users about the honesty and accuracy of my adds, i will not misrepresent anything i sell, this is very important to me. This car is not every ones favorite car but if it's yours you will not be disappointed. This is a beautiful car but not one that you would be afraid to drive. If you don't intend on buying this car please don't bid on it.
Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements i will aid in loading The car is for sale locally so i reserve the right to end auction early,$500 deposit due within 48 hours of the end of auction, pick up and total payment due within 7 days. clear arkansas title, please come and inspect and drive this beautiful car and thanks for looking at my ad, jeff 816-824-0984, jlninn@hotmail.com or text |

2013 Buick Encore nets strong IIHS, NHTSA safety scores
Wed, 05 Jun 2013After being crushed from every which way and rolled over like a labrador, the 2013 Buick Encore has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To earn the accolade, a vehicle must achieve the highest rating of "Good" in each of the institute's four main crash tests: Front Moderate Overlap, Side, Rollover and Rear. The Encore aced those four tests with "Good" ratings, but missed out on the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation by receiving a Poor rating in the institute's new Front Small Overlap test. To be named a Top Safety Pick+, the Encore would need to score at least an "Acceptable" rating in the new test, as well as "Good" in all four original crash tests.
Despite the miss, the Encore joins the Enclave, LaCrosse, Verano and Regal as Top Safety Picks all. If you count only the Encore with all-wheel drive, then all five Buicks have also earned five-star overall ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, making Buick one of the few manufacturers to offer a full lineup with high scores from both safety rating organizations.
The front-wheel-drive Encore, despite performing equally as well as the all-wheel-drive version in NHTSA's crash tests, only earned four stars overall. As far as we can tell, the discrepancy between the two is because some safety equipment, like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Assist, are optional features on the FWD Encore and standard on the AWD model.
eBay Find Of The Day: 1946 Tucker Torpedo Prototype II hides a secret Riviera
Thu, 10 Jul 2014The Tucker Torpedo is one of the great what-if stories of automotive history. Preston Tucker hoped to revolutionize the industry with a car unlike any other on the road at the time. However, due to a variety of problems, he only managed build 51 vehicles before closing shop. Over time, they have become highly sought-after; In 2012, one sold for $2.65 million at auction.
That brings us to this Tucker "replica" that you see above because it might be one of the ugliest monstrosities ever put together. However, we might extend some leniency to the creator, as the vehicle isn't actually trying to replicate the classic look of the 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Instead, it is attempting to reproduce an earlier prototype from 1946 that actually features that weird, trident nose. According to the seller, his uncle built the car as a labor of love and supposedly used actual plans from Tucker as inspiration.
Underneath all of the crazy changes is a 1971 Buick Riviera powered by a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) Buick V8. Some of the replica's odder modifications include the front fenders that turn with the wheels and the fin running down the back. All three headlights work, but the one in the middle is only for the high beams. Oddly, the small hinged sections on the roof are meant to open to avoid hitting your head when getting in or out. Maybe the seller's uncle was a very tall guy?
2013 Buick Enclave
Mon, 29 Oct 2012GM's Flagship Lambda Is (Still) A Smooth Operator
Consumers shopping for a domestic full-size crossover have heard all about GM's triplets. The Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave are a very appealing and talented group of siblings. Entering their fifth year of production, albeit middle-age in the automotive industry, each is attractive, well-rounded and very capable on the paved dance floor. While all share nearly identical base DNA and the same basic running gear, subtle physical differences and unique personalities emerge between the trio when one digs a bit deeper.
The most polished of the threesome, without question, is the Enclave from Buick. Fresh off a mid-cycle update (as are its siblings), the flagship of the platform boasts a facelift, innovative new features and an upgraded demeanor for the new model year.
