This car started life out as a 1971 Buick Skylark Convertible, and underwent a complete frame off restoration about 6 years ago and 5 thousand miles. The original 350 was tossed to the curb, and a completely freshened finely tuned 455 was put between the fenders. Next the original TH-350 transmission was chucked in favor of a reworked TH-400. FInally, the rear end was completely gone through drum to drum. The car is as clean underneath as it is on top. The motor fires right up and purrs like a kitten, trans engages solidly, and braking is effortless with the power disk/drum setup. The front and rear suspensions were completely rebuilt and detailed.

The body was was massaged and blocked to perfection, followed by a finely sprayed DuPont Base coat, GSX stripes were added, and the car was layered in clear, and color sanded to a mirror finish. The paint today appears as it did when it was first layed down, with not a scratch on it. All chrome trim was replaced as well as the bumpers were triple chrome plated.

The interior was refurbished with new seat foam, as well as fresh OEM type upholstery. The power window system was gone through and checked out. The power top works effortlessly, with a new, professionally installed convertible top with a glass rear window.

The car has factory OEM chrome rally wheels, which show very well. The rims are wrapped in BFGoodrich radial tires, which like the rest of the car has approx 5-6000 miles on them and almost 90% tread remaining.

Overall, the car in impeccable condition, and is 100% reliable and everything works as it should. The engine starts right up and sounds as fresh as the day it was installed. The car drives straight and is a pleasure to go anywhere in, any day, any time.

2015 Buick Verano offered with six-speed manual after all

Mon, 09 Jun 2014

Good news, boys and girls (well, at least those of you who still like shifting for yourselves). Buick got in touch with us to correct some information that it had mistakenly announced; namely, that the 2015 Verano will lose its optional six-speed manual transmission. Apparently, that announcement was incorrect, and the compact sedan will indeed continue to offer a manual option for 2015, despite what we're certain is a low take rate. Additionally, the Desert Dusk Metallic paint that was said to come as part of an Appearance Package is no longer part of the deal. With that out of the way, we now return you to your regularly scheduled automotive-obsessive broadcast...

Why Buick's Encore wasn't a Chevy

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

Buick is taking a gamble with its 2013 Encore. General Motors' near-luxury brand has enjoyed great success attracting conquest buyers to its larger Enclave crossover, but it has never offered something quite like this small CUV.
Very early signs suggest that the gamble might be working. According to Mark Reuss, President of General Motors, the automaker expected about 1,500 initial orders from its dealers for the Encore, but it's tracking closer to 9,000 units. Alluding to the fact that historically, Buick has shared similar products with GM's other brands, Reuss says that Buick dealers are "thrilled to have an exclusive." The automaker already markets almost identical models in other markets as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka and Chevrolet Trax, but The General's other brands won't offer a twin to the new baby Buick.
The new Encore is based on the Gamma architecture that underpins the Chevrolet Sonic, and it shares the economy car's available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. With standard front-wheel drive and available all-wheel drive, GM says its Encore will be pitted against competitors like the BMW X1 and Audi Q3, both of which are much more expensive but also much more powerful.

Opel readying Adam model with SUV cues

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

The Opel Adam, the microcar of General Motors' European subsidiary, has seen its sales cool significantly since it first hit the market in the United Kingdom and Europe, but a push is reportedly under way that just might be enough to get the stylish, little car moving again.
Using the Opel Adam Rocks Concept as a template, Opel will ruggedize the Adam, so that it might compete with the growing herd of city cars that sport SUV styling, like the Volkswagen Cross Up and Fiat Panda 4x4, according to a report from Automotive News Europe. Sporting a bumped-up ride height and tougher body work, it's a dedicated soft-roader, but will freshen the Adam's lineup and, hopefully, broaden its customer appeal.
The Adam Rocks, according to IHS Automotive analyst Ian Fletcher, should also make some more coin for GM's struggling European arm. "Automakers are happy to meet demand for SUV and crossovers as the customer pays a premium," Fletcher told ANE. And although the Rocks might have been planned from the start as a production vehicle, the timing, with the Adam's sales slowdown, doesn't seem like a coincidence.
