1992 Cadillac Allante on 2040-cars
Cantonment, Florida, United States
The Allante for 1992 was priced at $58,470 for the convertible, and
$64,090 for the hardtop/convertible. Both prices included the mandated
gas guzzler tax, which was now at $1,300. As it had been the custom for a
few years now, price drops were announced midyear, $57,170 for the
convertible, and $62,790 with the removable hardtop. The optional
digital cluster was priced at $495 (available at no charge on the
removable hardtop model), however, only 187 cars were equipped with the
standard analog cluster this year. Also available on the convertible at
extra-cost, a pearl white paint group (option YL3) priced at $700 (found

Three shades of leather were available for the interior, the colors and
production totals are: Charcoal (859), Natural Beige (652), and Maroon
(187).and (50) Polo Green
The Allante is a two-door, two-seater roadster manufactured and marketed by Cadillac from 1987 until 1993, with roughly 21,000 units built over a seven-year production run. Originally designed under the code name "Callisto",[citation needed] to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL and Jaguar XJS, the Allante featured a slightly modified variant of the 4.1 liter V8 used across Cadillac's model line. The Allante is noted for an unusual production arrangement, where completed bodies — designed and manufactured in Italy by Pininfarina —[1] were shipped 4,600 mi (7,400 km) from Italy in specially equipped Boeing 747s, 56 at a time,[1] to Cadillac's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly plant where they were mated with domestically manufactured chassis and engine assemblies.[1] 1992 BUILT 1,931 1992 including a high-output LW2 version with multiport fuel injection which produced 200 hp (149 kW) and 270 lbf·ft (370 N·m) for the Allante. |

Cadillac, Buick and Chevy decisions impacted by worries abroad
Fri, 05 Jul 2013European Concerns Drive GM, But Beware Of The French Connection
GM's bid to rationalize Europe will impact the products that will be offered domestically.
It seems that Europe is defining the future of General Motors more so than its home North American market. Having axed Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, GM has done a fairly good job of repositioning its remaining four divisions, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Cadillac carries the luxury banner. Chevrolet is aimed at the masses with cars and trucks along with a nod to performance thanks to Camaro and Corvette. Buick bridges the premium gap between Chevy and Cadillac, while GMC offers a hardcore work/upscale proposition.
GM recalling 117,000 sedans, crossovers, SUVs, pickups and vans
Thu, 02 Oct 2014General Motors has issued a stop-sale to dealers and has notified the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration of its intention to recall 117,000 vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Of those vehicles, only 4,500 are at dealerships.
The affected vehicles include the Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Impala sedans, fullsize SUVs (Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL), Lambda-platform crossovers (Chevy Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia), heavy-duty pickups (Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD) and fullsize vans (Chevy Express and GMC Savana). The sedans and body-on-frame SUVs include model years 2013 and 2014, while the CUVs, heavy-duty pickups and vans are limited to MY2014.
GM confirmed the recall to Autoblog via an emailed statement (which we've included below). According to the statement, the issue at hand in what is the company's 69th recall of 2014 covers the chassis-control module. Automotive News is reporting that a problem in the chassis-control system could cause a short in the module, which could cause the engine to stall or fail to start. The fault could also affect the trailer-brake control, provided it's equipped.
Cadillac Elmiraj has production potential
Tue, 20 Aug 2013There are many reasons to love the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept, but not the least of which is how production-ready this big coupe appears to be. Take out the overly fancy interior and a few conceptual elements of the exterior, and this looks like a coupe that could be in dealers now as the successor to the Eldorado.
On top of that, Automotive News is quoting Bob Ferguson, Cadillac senior vice president, as saying that a production version of this car is "very doable." AN adds that if the Monterey showstopper gets the green-light, this car would compete against the upcoming Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and would based on Cadillac's upcoming rear-wheel-drive flagship sedan due out in 2015. The range-topping coupe would debut sometime after the sedan model. Cross your fingers.
