1968 Cadillac Deville Convertible California Car Rust Free Beautiful Condition on 2040-cars

Year:1968 Mileage:110000
Location:

This is a beautiful Cadillac convertible that has spent the great majority of its life in southern California. I can not find any rust on the car from pulling the carpet up or inspecting it from underneath. I purchased it and shipped it to the northwest, where it has been garaged and pampered every day since. The vehicle has a clean and clear title in my name. In the past 25 years the car has had two owners including myself.

In the last year, the car has new paint, a new top, new hydraulics, new weatherstripping (all of it, not just a couple pieces), new tires (2013), new brakes, new radio and speakers (radio not yet installed as of now), and plenty more items. I have a box of receipts.

Mechanically, the car is excellent. The engine fires up quickly and runs smooth. The transmission shifts just like it should and has recently been serviced with a new filter and fluid. It drives very solidly going down the road. The alignment, suspension, brakes and steering all feel just as they should. I would trust this car to go on a road trip.

The interior was reupholstered some time ago, although I dont know how long. it looks very good with no rips in the seats. The top is a quality vinyl replacement, and the hydraulics were also replaced at the time. it moves up and down nicely.

The underside of the car is very ncie in appearance, no rust or excessive grime. It's certainly not frame off restored nice, but you can tell it hasnt seen rain.

The paint is new as of early 2014 and it looks great. its been cut and buffed and you cant go far down the road without getting a thumbs up or "nice car!"
The door jambs, under the trunk and the sides of the hood and fenders were painted at the same time. The sheet metal on this car is very straight. This was not a cheap paint job to get the car out the door. I have pictures of before the car was painted to show that it is not hiding anything scary under there. It has been thoroughly cut and buffed.

All 4 power windows work, heater works, AC needs a recharge (pump kicks on but it doesnt get cool) and the power seat is finicky

I have a brand new original style stereo that does FM and ipod input and fits in exactly like the original and looks original but as of now it is still in the box along with 4 name brand speakers.

There is likely more I am forgetting but the bottom line is it is a beautiful car that runs and drives very nice with new paint, top and much more. I have invested much into this car and I am very confident that it will give someone many years of service.

Next-gen Cadillac CTS-Vs caught in parking lot

Thu, 10 Jan 2013

A pair of camouflaged Cadillac CTS prototypes were spotted, and thankfully photographed, outside a grocery store in Southern California. From the image above - there are plenty more if you click over to TotalCarScore.com - it appears these could be testers for the 2014 CTS-V, but that is just speculation. We've seen the obvious "V" motif in the grille before, and there's what could be another "V" in the design of the side mirrors.
The hood on the car in the background appears to include two bulges, but the single shot that affords a tiny peek under the hood shows reveals only the airbox. Plenty of rumors, and the sight of an engine cover inscribed with the words "Twin Turbo," have caused people to wonder if a twin-turbo V6 will live under the production car's hood instead of the V8 currently there. In back, instead of the round tailpipes found outboard on all the CTS sedans, there's a pair of integrated tips in a parallelogram shape. A new shifter with contrasting stitching was spied in the cabin.
If predictions hold up it will arrive later this year. When it does, expect the body underneath all that camo to be softer on the eye compared to the current car - less science and more art. For now, hit the link to see more spy shots of what's coming.

Cadillac rushing update for laggy CUE infotainment system

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

BMW's innovative iDrive was introduced in 2001, and a dozen years later, automakers are still learning hard lessons about what consumers want in their infotainment systems. In response to owner feedback - and a few media drubbings - about the delayed and occasionally fickle responses of its CUE (short for Cadillac User Experience) system, Cadillac has told Wired that it's going to issue an update this year.
Coming for the XTS and ATS, the new software will mean quicker haptic feedback to driver inputs on the touchscreen and the buttons, and snappier responses on screen. Down the road, Cadillac's VP of marketing says that a different mix of screen controls and hard buttons is "something you'll be seeing in the future" - the system is presently a mix of touchscreen-based controls and capacitive-touch switchgear - there are no knobs or physical pushbuttons to speak of, and the omission of both has proven to be a divisive issue among consumers and industry pundits.
Cadillac hasn't provided a date for when the CUE update will be issued, but it has indicated that the service will be performed by dealers, not sent wirelessly.
