This Elvis Special!!!  1970 Cadillac De Ville 2 door convertible is all original--472 cubic inch motor.  I am the second owner of the car.  It has been garage kept and covered. Can't think of a more original car.  I purchased it from Mr. Short who bought the vehicle new in Lincolnwood Illinois (see bill of sale)  a Chicago Suburb.  He drove it hear to Southern Illinois to start a chain of Mc Donalds.  I saw the car occasionally in parades over the years.  When I found out it was coming up for sale I bought it the same day.  I did not argue about the price, that was approximately 10 years ago.  I only drive it a few times a year.  I have kept everything original, the only thing I have done is change the oil & filter.

This most desirable color combination of  Cotillion white with red leather interior is a beautiful vehicle.  All original has not been redone even  the original patina of the leather.  Most 1970's have been reupholstered.  Look at the seams and buttons which is on the original interiors.  This has a beautiful original interior.   All numbers match on the car.  The original equipment has tilt and telescope steering wheel, remote control trunk lock with warning light, door edge guards, tinted glass, 6 way power seat, automatic climate control, am/fm stereo signal seeking radio, rear window defogger. Chrome is clean with no rust.  Carpet and dash like new, original floor mats front & back and convertible top cover all snaps are in good shape.  Original paint very nice, all door jams & doors clean no rust. Undercarriage is clean with no rust.  Original spare tire still in trunk with the original jack with it's original security cover.  A great original specimen that hasn't been messed with.  Engine always starts, does not burn or blow oil, top and windows work beautifully just a really nice original car.

Also have all the original  paperwork, bill of sale from 1970, 1970 owner manual, Cadillac protecto plate, new vehicle warranty papers, consumer information,  original Cadillac keys that came with vehicle, original wheel covers and new tires.  Also when we were cleaning the dashboard last fall I noticed a nickel stuck near the window.  When I got it out the nickel was from 1970 that will also go with the car. (too funny)

Can't think of a more original car.  I am selling the car because I am down sizing and have other vehicles and I am getting older.  I would love to sell this original specimen to a person that would appreciate it with all it's original history.  I am not a dealer just a guy with a cool Cadillac. I have the car priced at what I think is a very fair reserve for a Cadillac in this original condition and all it's documented history.  I would consider this a high value Cadillac.  Can assist in coordinating shipping anywhere.

J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.

Cadillac abandons plans for six-digit flagship sedan

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

So much for that party. Cadillac has announced that it is walking away from plans to build a high-dollar, rear-wheel-drive ultraluxury sedan. The low-volume model would have been based on the lusty Ciel Concept, and the production iteration would have carried a price tag well over $100,000. Executives with the automaker reportedly claim the model wouldn't have bolstered the brand enough to be worth the investment.
Even so, Automotive News reports Cadillac is still on track to build a range-topping four-door to go head-to-head with the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. That model will likely be constructed on the company's upcoming Omega rear-wheel-drive platform, but we won't see it bow until at least 2016. Right now, the front-wheel-drive XTS sits at the top of the Cadillac lineup, and while that machine and it's twin-turbocharged V6 variant makes a compelling argument against certain luxury entries, it falls short serving as a legitimate competitor for the likes of the 7 Series and S-Class for enthusiast drivers.

Hennessy wastes no time in supercharging the 2015 Cadillac Escalade

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

The ink is still drying on the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade sales brochures, but that hasn't stopped Texas-based Hennessey Performance (HPE) from leaping out of the gate with its own high-performance variant. In stock form, the big fourth-generation Cadillac flagship arrives with a new small block naturally aspirated 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 delivering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fresh out of the showroom, the 5,900-pound SUV will sprint to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
While that is plenty fast for some owners, others don't want to be shamed by a 550 horsepower Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG or a 510 horsepower Land Rover Range Rover Sport - both will leave the stock Escalade at a stoplight.
The team at HPE has come to the rescue with its HPE550 supercharger upgrade, which includes a belt-driven supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, recalibrated engine management software and a three-year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty. With 6 psi of boost, the direct-injected 6.2-liter is tuned to deliver an impressive 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque - gains of 32 percent and 18 percent, respectively, over stock. Although HPE isn't releasing performance figures as of yet, our math says that should be enough power to put the two Europeans in the Cadillac's rearview mirror. The company also offers a set of 20-inch lightweight H10 forged monoblock wheels, to further improve performance.
