Up for auction AS-IS and WHERE-IS is a 2001 Cadillac DeVille DTS with 4.6L V8 Northstar engine. It is a beautiful car with very nice pearl white paint, polished chrome factory rims, leather interior, and Bose premium sound system. The air conditioning works good. The tires have approximately 60 to 70% of the original tread still left. It would be a great car for a do-it-yourself mechanic if you had an engine from another car or a salvage yard that you could put in it. It needs an engine replacement or rebuild. The car starts but it is not roadworthy and will need to be picked up locally and trailered or towed by the winning bidder. The transmission shifts hard and will need work too. A part for the transmission was purchased based on the recommendations of a mechanic and is included with the car. It was being driven regularly until it started having engine problems last fall. I have been told the 8th digit in the VIN is a 9 which tells you what engine should work in this car if you have one you would want to install but it is your responsibility to verify that information with a dealer or salvage yard. It is a very nice car on the outside, and the inside is also in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. Please ask any questions through eBay messaging prior to bidding. Cadillac highlights craftsmanship in latest Escalade teaser videos
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Cadillac, in case you haven't heard, is unveiling the new Escalade on October 7, completing the redesign of General Motors' large SUV range. The event is proceeding with the regular degree of "teasers" and "leaked images" that is typical of the automotive world, nowadays.
As the new Escalade's reveal date grows closer, Cadillac is trumping up interest for the new SUV, debuting five short teaser videos on its YouTube channel. While not showing much about the Escalade itself, the spots reveal plenty about its materials. Real wood and hand-stitched leather are highlighted, while we get another glimpse of the Escalade's vertically oriented headlights. Take a look below for all five spots.
GM to make most cars LTE hotspots for 2015
Mon, 25 Feb 2013General Motors isn't the first automaker to deliver in-car Internet access, but a proposed plan announced today could make the technology more widespread than any of its competitors have offered. By the 2015 model year, most Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC products in the US and Canada will offer 4G LTE mobile broadband access. Initially, GM will just be pairing with AT&T to deliver this service, but additional carriers will be revealed in the future.
Current in-car Wi-Fi hot spots are limited to 3G, but GM says that 4G LTE is 10 times faster than 3G service and will allow for full Internet access, including streaming video for entertainment as well as services like real-time traffic updates and navigation driving directions. There is also no need for a paired smartphone with this new system, which should make it easier to use, and GM and AT&T will also be working together to develop new apps for customers.
Buyers can expect to start seeing 4G LTE in their cars starting next year, and GM is already planning to expand the service to other global markets as well. All of the information from GM's announcement is posted in a press release below.
Cadillac prepares to top its own 'Ring record with upcoming new CTS-V
Mon, 14 Jul 2014It was a big deal back in 2008 when the original Cadillac CTS-V clocked a lap time of 7:59 at the Nürburgring, making it the fastest sedan ever to lap the Nordschleife to that date. Not many four-doors have bested that time since - the list consisting pretty much only of the Porsche Panamera Turbo - but now hot hatches are lapping faster than that, so you can bet that the new one will manage an even better time.
Now we've spotted the upcoming new CTS-based performance sedan several times before undergoing testing in locations around the world, but this is the first time we've seen it at the Nürburgring, apparently using the Goodyear Dunlop test facility as its base of operations (and still wearing Michigan manufacturer plates, incidentally). Considering how well the outgoing CTS-V performed and how much further you can bet Cadillac will push the envelop this time around, a new sedan lap record is almost a certainty - and we can only hope for an all-out war between Europe's performance sedan power houses to ensue.
