Ok, here's the deal. Decided to buy a different car and sell this one. It obviously took offense to my disloyalty, and decided it needed new brake lines. So we fixed them a few weeks ago. Oil and filter was changed around the same time. We had our mechanic check the exhaust system, because it has been sounding a little beefy, like a race car. It needs new mufflers.  Since I'm not keeping it, I figure someone else can deal with it.

Then, a couple weeks ago, we were driving with the air on high, it was hot, and we just got done pulling a hill. The Low Oil Pressure light came on, dinging and indicating to shut off the engine. We shut it off and sat for a few minutes. Since it wasn't overheating, we decided to try to drive home. We made it with no problem (14 mi.). The engine seemed hot, but temp wasn't overheating. I looked up on line what it might be. It said if the engine isn't ticking or making any noises (which it isn't), it is probably the oil pressure sensor, and to start there. If it isn't that, it could be pricey. I'm not going to the bother of taking it anywhere to find out.   This car would be great for someone who is a mechanic, knows a mechanic, or has access to a reasonable mechanic.   Or you'd probably be able to make quite a bit parting the car out.

I'm being as transparent as possible as to the condition of this vehicle.  I haven't moved it out of the yard since we brought it home, so don't know if the low pressure light will come back on.   It doesn't come on when running the engine while sitting in the yard.  It has just shy of 170,000 mi., so anything's possible. The check engine light has been on since I bought it 4 or 5 years ago.  We just get it reset when it's inspected.  It's still has current inspection. The body and interior are in decent condition. Has a few flaws, but not bad for a car this age. Body has a couple minor spots with surface rust that will need addressed before they get out of hand.   Car is worth $1000 at the least.  You buy as is.

If you're interested and want more photos, let me know, and I'll get some out to you.  Please ask all questions before bidding.  I would suggest towing the car to be on the safe side.

Cadillac CT6 ushers in new naming convention

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

Johan de Nysschen has been at his new post as president of Cadillac for not even three months , but he's already seen two of his most notable accomplishments from his two-year tenure as president of Infiniti matched by Cadillac. The brand has announced that it is relocating its headquarters, and is now officially changing its nomenclature.
The brand's new flagship model will abandon the familiar three-letter designation enjoyed by every other model in the range (aside from the Escalade), and adopt an alpha-numeric title. So, rather than the expected title of LTS, Cadillac's top-end car will be called the CT6.
Of course, this won't be limited to just one model. According to Cadillac's press release, "familiar lettering like 'CT' would be used for car models, with the number indicating the relative size and position of the cars in the hierarchy of Cadillac models." And yes, that means what you think it means - Cadillac will use the exact same naming formula, albeit with different letters, as Infiniti.

GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."
