1990 Fleetwood Sixty Special. 1 older Southern California owner since new, conservative, non-smoker, very well maintained, he bought this car new (paid cash) at Martin Cadillac in Los Angeles to use to mainly drive back and forth once a month to Nevada. The miles are mainly highway. These types of Fleetwood's are slightly longer (about 6 inches) and were built in limited quantities, less than 1900 produced this particular year model. Being a vinyl roof delete makes it very scarce (and better looking!). This car is loaded. I have dealer invoice $38912.00, car has about every option except sun roof. This car is always garage kept when not out and about.

Car starts, runs and drives well. Small exhaust leak you only notice upon heavier acceleration. Brakes tires and other mechanics are all very good. If the car needed anything it would get it. Owner kept owners maintenance log in back of owner manual up to date. Front door weather stripping was recently replaced at nearly 700.00. This Cadillac is equipped with the powerful 4.5 engine, much more reliability then some of the other Cadillac engines available in that era. This car is a real powerhouse!

Paint is a beautiful dark blue shade "Black Sapphire". It is the original and still retains it's deep luster. There are a few small dings and scratches you might expect but, overall beautiful. Chrome and stainless all very nice. Glass is all good, windshield does have 2x stone chips. One of the side bumper pads has a minor scrape, could be easily touched up.

Interior is very nice, only minor ware mainly on drivers seat, not bad. Seats have about every tilt, lumbar position known to man. Even has heated seats! Plenty of leg room both front and rear. 4x overhead illuminated vanity mirrors, minor wrinkles on felt type headliner but, nothing that grabs your eye. Dash is very nice, door panels extremely good condition. Everything works to my knowledge. The radio was replaced with a more modern CD/MP3 player that looks just fine, if you didn't know you would assume the car came with it from factory. Trunk compartment is very clean and nice. Spare tire still in place and appears to have never been removed.

Please remove the car at your earliest opportunity, not to exceed 2 weeks please. It will be kept indoors. Sold as is where is. Hemet Ca 92544. GM to build $1.3 billion Cadillac plant in China

Wed, 08 May 2013

General Motors has gotten approval to build a $1.3 billion manufacturing facility for its Cadillac brand in China. China's National Development and Reform Commission signed off on plans for GM to build the plant in the country's Shanghai's Jinqiao zone; construction is expected to begin in June of this year. According to a Bloomberg report, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.
No surprise here, but Cadillac would like to sell a lot more cars in the plush Chinese luxury market. The brand moved only 30,010 cars in China last year, compared with 400k for Audi, and about 330k for BMW. With Cadillac already telling us that it would be moving production of its XTS sedan to China - a production decision that saves having to pay 25-percent import tariffs - approval of the factory is a critical win for the company.
In fact, according to earlier comments by GM China president Bob Socia, it's at least conceivable that Chinese-built Cadillacs could be shipped back to the US for sale. The brave new world of globalization, getting stranger by the minute.

What will the next Presidential limo look like?

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.

Combative de Nysschen defends Cadillac move, naming change

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Johan de Nysschen isn't afraid of taking quick, decisive actions, even if they are criticized. Since taking the wheel at Cadillac, he instigated moving the luxury division's base of operations to Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood and introduced a new naming scheme for the future of the brand, like he did at Infiniti. The polarizing boss recently explained his feelings about the future of Cadillac in more depth on his Facebook page, but unfortunately only his friends could read it. Thankfully, Daily Kanban posted much of the strongly worded missive for the whole world to see.
Much of the message examines the decision to move some employees to New York. De Nysschen claims that it's all about giving Cadillac distance from Detroit to reshape itself. It allows for, "No distractions. No side shows. No cross-brand corporate considerations. No homogenized lowest common denominator approach. Just pure, unadulterated, CLASS."
