1947 Cadillac Series 62 2 Door Convertible This is a fully restored 1947 Cadillac Series 62 convertible. The prior owner did a deep restoration in the middle 1990’s. The current owner purchased the car at auction in central California and he has had it garaged since with minimal miles driven. The car has not been driven for 5 years so it needs some service to be as road worthy as it was when this owner purchased it. This is an original California car. Paint is very well done. The leather upholstery is magnificent and the electric convertible top operates smoothly as designed. This fine automobile will take you back in time and is worthy of any drive asked of it by a new owner. It would be a shame to re-engineer any facet of this luxury, low production automobile and the new owner will have the responsibility to be a good curator. Mileage: 11,368 on a working speedometer which is believed to be original. Paint: This car was repainted in the late 1990’s by a professional shop using pride of workmanship and quality products. There is one chip noted on the rear deck lid. A quality detail and polishing is in order. Sheet metal: Sheet metal appears to be original, fit and finish are excellent. All trim is clean and neat and properly fit. All badging is correct. Chrome: All chrome was replated during restoration by a quality shop. It is bright and shiny.Tires and Rims: 2 inch wide sidewalls on the tires fit on standard, period correct rims with correct deep dish, Sombrero wheel covers with correct badging. Mechanical: This car was tuned and ran great during its life with the current owner (19 years). It has not been run for 5 years and will need a complete service to be road worthy.Interior: Beautiful leather pleated seats, all new top with chrome rails, full painted dash with all correct instruments available in the day including am radio and clock, full electric including seats and windows as available for the year’s top of line model; Check the pictures! J.D. Power customer survey of dealers counts Cadillac, Buick as big winners

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Cadillac and Buick have taken the trophies in J.D. Power's latest Customer Service Index Study examining satisfaction with dealer service. Surveying more than 90,000 owners and lessees of 2009-2013 model-year cars, the study found that those with pre-paid maintenance packages were ten percent more likely to buy their next car from the same brand.
Dealer satisfaction scores have improved overall, Cadillac nabbed the luxury segment ahead of Audi and Lexus, taking the crown that Lexus held last year. Buick keeps the mass-market dealer satisfaction win in the family, finishing ahead of Volkswagen and last year's winner GMC. The study also found that service department use of tablets increased customer satisfaction, as did "best practices" like "providing helpful advice." Who knew?
You can find details on those and more findings in the press release below.

Cadillac CTS wins 2014 Motor Trend Car of the Year [w/video]

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

For the second time, the Cadillac CTS has been named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. After winning the COTY crown for 2008, the new-for-2014 CTS outdid the other two finalists for Car of the Year honors, the Mazda3 and its corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
What's notable about the Caddy's victory, though, is how it simply brushed off its competition. Both the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series failed to make the finalist's bracket, leaving the CTS to claim victory. "It had to beat [Mercedes and BMW] on style, on performance, on comfort, and on quality. It has," Motor Trend said in its COTY recap for the CTS.
The team at Motor Trend praised the CTS chassis, calling it "fantastic," and citing weight advantage the Caddy has over the competition. There was also praise heaped on the car's engines, with the 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder getting nods of approval from the MT team. The team also raved about the VSport model and its twin-turbocharged V6, magnetic shocks and other performance accoutrements.

GM CEO Akerson calls out Tesla, says Cadillac will compete on EVs

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

Cadillac will be taking on Tesla Motors, the underdog EV manufacturer that's seen heaps of critical acclaim and stock market buzz with its most recent sedan, the Model S. "If you want to compete head-to-head with Tesla, and we ultimately will, you want to do it with a Cadillac," Dan Akerson, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, told media in Washington, according to The Detroit News.
Akerson continued, telling The News, "We'll sell more Volts and lose less money on the Volts than they'll lose on the Model S." He also took time to point out that Tesla getting vehicles out to customers isn't a guarantee of success or permanence, using Fisker as an example, saying "Does anybody even remember Fisker? I mean, there were a number of them; they are all gone."
This strong talk from Akerson comes after Doug Parks, another GM exec, let slip that the Detroit-based manufacturer has an EV in the works that will cover 200 miles per charge and only cost about $30,000, a massive upgrade over similarly priced EVs that struggle to top 100 miles per charge. Until that vehicle arrives, though, GM is preparing the Cadillac ELR, a small coupe that, like the Volt with which it shares technology, uses a gas engine as a mobile generator to recharge the batteries. Akerson took aim at Tesla again, saying, "But I do think when the ELR comes out late this year, early next - it's certainly the same postal code as Tesla, but now we're going to move up. It's not going to be a mass-produced car."
