Guys.... here is your chance to get a very solid unmolested '53 2 door post. I had great intentions, however health issues forces me to sell off my cars. I'm a straight up "old" rodder and no B.S. on this end. I will reply to all questions ASAP...I have taken excellent photos for you to view (non of those faraway dark photos you see out there). The car is from Kansas and it has the DMV pink, original keys (locks work) no plates.  This is one of the straightest, solid, nearly rust free '53's you will find. Surface rust on the hood and top, see pics inside and inside trunk! I don't see any rust out other than the pic that shows a very small rust out area (easy fix) behind the pass rear wheel. There was packed mud in that area when I got it. As you can see from the pics the body is near mint.. and the stainless trim is aswell other than one piece above the rear pass window (see pic) I also have a near mint driver side front fender trim to replace the original which has a small dent The rock gaurds are not perfect but very good. Nice straight grill and bumpers. (see pics)  glass is good, frt/rear windows great, drivers side front is cracked. Near mint steering wheel, uncut dash, all interior handles are there, The front door panels were rough but the chrome original trim on them is mint, front door panels are in the trunk for temp plates (see pic) also very nice arm rests all 4.also door trim. Visors are intack. This car had 70's shag carpet when I got it.. you talk about ugly........ Interior is original and complete for temp plates and re-doing.Original chevy hubcaps and wheels, matching spare in trunk, rubber mat is still in trunk. Spare tire slot is not rusted out in trunk (rare). Motor is complete other than plug wires and I bought a set for the car (pic) The heater tubes are intack (rare) I have not tried to start the car, cleaned the tank or anything. The car has a broken hood spring, I bought one and it is with the car. The owner said it ran a few years ago when parked.? we have all heard those stories, however, from the looks of things I would bet that this ole' girl would fire with the typical, oil changed, tank cleaned, plugs, H2o, carb cleaned, a 12 pack of beer.... and alot of LOVE. However, a 350 would be alot nicer. Guys this is a great find and if you consider how straight this body is, and what it costs to have body work done, you see the advantage to a straight and complete car. I's a great classic to own and a affordable build... rat, restored or rodded, a cool ride.

Here is the deal......... no surprises  (see all the pictures? I'm selling this car at a very affordable price considering it's condition. You know what'a out there. Go to a car swap and look at the crap that comes in on trailers for 5k and up. I believe a guy could get this car running and actually drive it in it's present condition with some mexican seat covers or whatever, a little brake work etc. clutch? 4 doors are going for this much "molested".  Solid '53 ....very cool!

The car is on my private property, and safe while waiting to be picked up. Easy access for loading. I will hold the car for 14 days unless other arrangements are made with me by the buyer. Pay pal is cool for the deposit and final payment. The fees suck, but I am willing to pay the 3% fees unlike others who add the % on to the buyer. A $1000.00 non refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of the end of auction. Real simple! if you buy it, pay for it! I have 500 100% feedback rating, old ebay member. If you have no feedback ..do not bid unless you write me. Actually I don't think this car will last long for the opportunity to have a bidding war.

Good luck and thanks for viewing!

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.
