1953 Chevy 210

Sweet Ride!

Up for sale is my 1953 Chevy 210. In 1953 there was no "Bel Air" there was just the 150 and the 210, and this is the nicer of the two! The odometer reads 37, 988 but i'm not sure how acurate that is! This is perfect for someone who wants to restore a beautiful classic car or drive it as is and have a sweet rat rod! The paint is not great, whoever painted this thing just layed it on THICK! The biggest issue with the body is a good size dent in the passenger side quater panel as you can see in the pictures. I do have the chrome trim that goes over that quater panel. Another problem is the bottom of the drivers side quater panel as you can also see in the pics. The floor is in great shape as is the floor in the trunk. The car has the original 216 inline 6 cylinder and the original 3 speed (three on the tree) manual column shift. The engine purrs like a kitten and runs about as good as you could possibly expect it to! The transmission has just been gone through and shifts EXTREMELY smooth. Probably the smoothest shifting 3 on the tree you will ever find! The interior is in decent shape but does need a headliner and carpet. The dash is in decent shape and seems complete, I am not sure if the gauges work or not. All of the glass is in good shape except for one small crack in the rear drivers window. All of the windows go up and down nice and smooth. The car comes with all 4 original rims and all 4 original hubcaps. In the pics there is one odd rim, the 4th original rim is in the trunk. Unfortunately right now the car has NO BRAKES. I just rebuilt the master cylinder and it had brakes for awhile but then lost them. I'm sure with a good bleeding of the system they would work just fine. The biggest problem with the car is that the frame is rusting out on the rear passenger side where the leaf spring shackle is. It drives fine right now but in the future that will need to be adressed. None of the frame is great but that is BY FAR the worst spot and the biggest issue with the car. The last thing is the lights need to be wired in. In the pictures the car has no headlights, I do have two brand new in the package headlights that come with the car. I have no keys with the car but I do have a CLEAN Michigan title. I've seen BARN FINDS of these cars sell on eBay for over $2700 and i'm starting this running one under $2000 with NO RESERVE! I've described the car as honestly and accurately as I can, other than that just bid on what you see in the pictures! I really prefer not to do PayPal but if it is totally necessary you can message me and maybe we can work it out. If you have any questions or concerns at all feel free to message me and I will get back with you QUICKLY. Thanks for looking!

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
