a very cool car in need of restoration. Glass in very good condition. Chrome is in very good condition, though missing a few pieces.  The front bumper in excellent condition. Dash is in very good condition. It appears to be the original engine, a 235.5 CID Six of 135 hp (101 kW). It starts right up, although there is some blowback. Rings seem good. Body man said that the only body parts that couldn't be repaired were the food and the truck. There is a fair amount of bondo on the rear quarter panels. The car also has power steering. Dash lights and radio are not wired, so I don't know if they work or not.

This is a very cool classic car. I do not know this car well. I bought it from my friend who was leaving the state and couldn’t take the car with him. I bought as a favor to him and with hope that I would be able to resale it for a small profit. I don’t know the car well, though he said it ran fine although he it was having issues with the breaks.  The engine starts right up and runs, however though I registered it in my name I did not pay to tag it. You are welcome to have a mechanic come look at it.

The floor pans in the rear have been repaired and are in good shape. I have most of the chrome pieces, which are in decent shape, however I haven’t yet taken photos of them to show. UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
