AS YOU KNOW THE HISTORY CHANNEL DID A 3 HOUR SPECIAL ON THE LAMBRECHT AUCTION TITLED "WHEELS OF FORTUNE" IN WHICH THIS PARTICULAR '57 CHEVY WAS IN THE BEGING INTRODUCTION AND MADE NUMEROUS APPEARANCES THROUGHT OUT THE SHOW CIT WAS ALSO APART OF VANDERBRINK AUCTIONS TELEVISED COMERCIALS AND ON YOU TUBE.I HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION TO SHOW THAT THIS CAR IS AN ORIGINAL SURVIVOR, INCLUDING BILL OF SALE, ORIGINAL TITLE WHEN IT WAS TRADED BACK TO LAMBRECHT CHEVROLET, OWNERS MANUAL, ORIGINAL IGNITION KEYS, ETC. THIS CAR HAS A 283 V-8, 4BARREL CARB, POWER GLIDE AUTOMATIC, AND DUAL EXHAUST. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL POWER PACK CAR. THE BODY IS STRAIGHT, WITH LOTS OF PATINA. THE FRAME AND UNDER CARRIAGE IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND VERY SOUND. THE CAR DOES ROLL WITH OUT ANY PROBLEM AND THE STEERING WORKS FINE. THE TRANSMISION WILL GO INTO PARK NEUTRAL AND DRIVE WITH NO EFFORT. THE MOTOR DOES NOT RUN AND THE RADIATOR IS MISSING. THIS CAR HAS BEEN SETTING IN A NEBRASKA PASTURE FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS, AND ITS IN GOOD SHAPE CONSIDERING THAT! PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]
Sun, 03 Feb 2013The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
