1999 Chevrolet Blazer LT with four wheel drive and 152,000 miles.

The truck runs well and is dependable.  It has two relatively new tires on the back.  The two front are in very good condition and will last a long time as well.

The outside of the truck is in excellent condition with bright shiny red paint.  There are a couple tiny chips in the hood and a few on the door, not noticeable and did not photograph well.  The inside of the truck is in good condition as well.  I have two children and a dog, so it is not perfect.  The rugs have been freshly shampooed, but may still show a slight stain or two.  There are no glaring stains.  The seats are leather and show some wear.  The backseat, behind the driver, shows some splitting near the edge.  The front passenger's seat is in very good condition and the heated seat works.  The driver's seat shows the most wear.  The seat has some tearing, buyer may want a seat cover.  The heated seat on this side is finicky and doesn't always work, not sure why.

The vehicle has NO air conditioning.  I looked into fixing it at one time and just never got around to it.

The ABS light is on.  The truck was running a little rough, so I took it into my mechanic.  He disabled the ABS.  The problem went away and it runs great, but the light comes on now.  He thought the problem may be in the module.  (I could get more info if requested).

The PA inspection is good through July 2014.  I really only drive the kids around and a short distance to work, so I got the low mileage/low emissions sticker at my last inspection.  That is why in the photo the sticker says 'exempt'.  I never had any problems passing in the past anyway.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
