For your consideration is a 1984 Chevy CUCV M1009 w/21,000 mi. This vehicle was previously owned and operated by the Navy Seabees. I'm the third owner and purchased this vehicle with 17,000 mi.
It has a 6.2L Diesel V-8 a Th400 Transmission and  a NP208 Transfer Case. As you can see the vehicle is slightly modified with a 6" Spring Suspension Lift, 37" Goodyear H1 tires. The front axle is a GM 10bolt converted to 8 lug and the rear is a 9.5" S.F 14 Bolt w/extra Capacity Cover. Electrical has been converted to 12v.
The interior is basic and clean, no power accessories here. Seats are Brown and in VG Cond. Passenger Seat has a Smittybilt Seat Cover with Molle attachments. In between the seats is a Smittybilt Center Console with a Sony AM/FM/CD player w/IPOD Plug, Sony AMP & Sony 6x9 speakers and a Bazoka Tube mounted under a good sized steel shelf /table. Bearcat CB w/weather. There's a heavy weight 4 pc rubber floor mat with sound deadening mold resistant under padding. Roll Bar, 37" Spare tire and a tool rack that contains a shovel, Axe, Pry Bar & Pick Axe and a removable Dog Fence. Manual Cranked Rear Window has been replaced with an electrical type.
Exterior has a Conferr Roof Rack w/5 Aux lights. Warn Winch Bumper, Two 5 Gallon Jerry Can Mounts, CB Antenna Mount and a Deep Fording Air Intake System.
This is a nice running truck with low miles but that doesn't mean it's not without issues, like most CUCV's they leak, rubber parts deteriorate with age not mileage. I've had leaks repaired as they appear so many have already been taken care of.
Right now the rear output shaft seal is starting to leak. Parts are readily available for these vehicles and the government service manuals are second to none, they can be converted to run on bio fuel very easily and  its smog exempt.
Please ask any questions you may have, more photo's available on request. Dog not included.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible gives us a couple of looks

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Put away your pixel paintbrushes, kids. Pack up your Photoshop. This is the real-deal 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible in its first official images. The droptop Chevrolet will roll into the bright lights of the Palexpo exhibition at next week's Geneva Motor Show, a four-wheeled statement of intent that General Motors is serious about taking its Corvette franchise global.
Chevy isn't providing anything in the way of further details with these two shots, but we've learned at least a couple of things about the car shown here. First off, the example seen in these images is fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package - something that isn't immediately evident because there's no sign of the coupe model's prominent ductwork on its rear haunches. In order to accommodate the power folding hard tonneau cover, the vents that feed the transmission and differential coolers have been relocated to the underside of the car. The dark paint color on this example also does a good job of muting the contrasting black front fender vents and hood opening - Z51-spec design details that have proven to be somewhat controversial.
One other thing to note: These two shots also display the Stingray wearing different alloy wheels than the split five-spoke design shown at the hardtop's Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. The simpler, thin five-spoke wheels should do a good job of showing off the Z51's upgraded brakes, and they'll be optional on the coupe as well.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
