Up for auction is my 1967 Chevy short stepside pickup.I have had this truck for 28 years, and it has been garage kept ever since. It has a 4" chopped top. The chop is a even 4" with no leaning of the posts. The roof was sectioned into 4 pieces and filler strips from an original roof were added. It was also skinned with an original rust free skin for a chevy truck. This truck was a 98% rust free piece to start with, and there is no rust around the windshield or door post-cowl area! The entire rear cab panel including the rear window, posts. and rear corners were replaced with a solid GM NOS piece that I purchased from a local Chevy dealer years ago! It also has NOS GM rockers installed in it. The doors are suicide with proper reinforcement in the rear corners of the cab, and reinforcement in the rear of the doors. They are very solid with no sag or flex. The frame is a 2x3 .120 wall rectangular tube. It has a 1-5/8" mild steel cage in it.The rear end is a Dana 60 with new 4:56 gears, New locker from Mark Williams, Moser 35 spline axles, and New Wilwood Black Gold series disc brakes on all 4 corners, It has a new Wilwood manual rack and pinion steering assy, and Wilwood master cylinder. The truck has 316 stainless tubular A-Arms up front with a mustang II setup. It has coil over shocks on all 4 corners. The truck is setup for a BBC with a front motor plate, and mid plate. It has a reverse valve body turbo 400 in it and a custom 3" driveshaft It also has custom built 2-1/8" headers to a 4" collector, reduced to 3" to flowmaster mufflers. I have floorboards, and a 16 guage steel firewall to go with it. It has Prostar 15x15 rears with 15x3 in the front. It has New Mickey Thompson 21.5 x 33 tires in the rear, but they are old. This truck is a project, and needs quite a bit of work to finish, but is a very solid piece. It is a one year only style, and very unique. It would make a very nice drag truck, or pro street vehicle. I have a clear Florida title with this truck! I do also have this vehicle for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. I have a low reserve on this vehicle, but it is time to go! A $500 deposit will be required within 48 hours of the end of the auction through Paypal. Balance to be paid in cash. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.Thank you |

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch
Mon, 04 Feb 2013According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.
2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite
Mon, 21 Jan 2013Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.
