Up for auction is an awesome example of an original Chevy C-10 Stepside Pickup.  It has 43,024 original miles. This truck was purchased in Conway, AR and had one owner up until he passed away.  The truck sat for around a year and was then purchased by the current owner.  The current owner purchased five (5) new tires for the truck (the tires have less than 50 miles on them).  The spare is mounted but the tires are a little bigger than stock so the spare is not attached at it's original location (it's in the bed).   It has been taken care of very well it's whole life but due to sitting it will need a tune up to be 100%.  It runs and drives great but needs carb work.  After the truck sits for a day it needs a shot of gas poured in to get it to start.  Once the truck is warm, it will crank up very quickly without hesitation.  The motor feels very strong once it warms up.  This truck steers like a dream!  It shifts very smoothly and the column 3-speed shifter is nice and tight.  The brakes work well for original drum brakes.  The truck stops nice and straight.  It has an exhaust leak that will need to be fixed. The windshield is in good condition and the wipers work.  Original floor mat looks almost perfect.  The truck is in very original condition and even has the original smog pump still on the motor.  Most everything seems to work except the reverse lights, the hazard lights, and the fuel gauge.  The interior is very original.  The seat has a large tear on the passenger side and a smaller tear on the top of the seat back. The body is in very nice condition.  It has a small ding on the driver's side front fender and even a smaller ding on the passenger side front fender.  It has been repainted at some point and the original paint is starting to show through in some spots.  There is very little rust on this truck.  There is some around the vent in the passenger side kick panel and in the driver's side kick panel.  Other than those spots, everything else looks great. The aluminum grill trim on the passenger side has some damage (pictured).  The original tailgate was stolen while the truck was sitting but included in this auction is a good tailgate.  The truck looks like it had undercoating sprayed on the body from the factory (or dealer).  The wood in the bed is in good shape and looks to be original but I can't confirm that 100%.  Please look at all of the pictures and ask any and all questions before placing a bid.  If you don't see what you need to see, just send me your email address or cell number and I can send you pictures and more description on anything you need to see.  Overall, this truck is in great shape and will make someone a very proud owner.  This truck is a great deal at the opening bid price!!  This is a NO RESERVE auction so the first bid may take it home!! Bid to win!!  Thanks for looking and good luck!!

Chevy shows much-improved 2014 Corvette interior in new video

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

If you want a closer look at what went into designing and building the interior for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, we've got just the thing. General Motors has released a new video detailing the cabin's evolution from conception to execution, complete with commentary from Ryan Vaughn, performance car interior design manager with Chevrolet. The quick clip details how manufacturing, engineering and design within General Motors worked together from the first sketches to ensure no compromises had to be made later down the line. How novel.
With plenty of hides traced with contrast stitching and available real carbon fiber trim, the cabin looks to be a few hundred miles ahead of the C6. Given how readily critics derided the previous generation for its cabin, the C7 should make writers work a little harder to find something to complain about. Check out the video below for yourself.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting?
