'69 Chevy C-10, 454, Powerglide, narrowed 9" ford rear end. I'm selling this truck for a friend who does not have an ebay account, but he has to sell his baby for financial reasons. He has owned this truck for 20 years, and has hundreds of hours of work in it. He's a body man and has put many hours into the body work, you will not find many other trucks as straight as this one.

Body and paint: The top has been chopped 3 inches, the windshield has been laid back, the hood has been sectioned 1 inch. Tailgate has been seamlessly welded with a custom rear valence panel. Custom fabricated inner wheel wells and removable panels inside the bed cover the fuel tank and battery (the pictures have one of the panels taken off to show how they're removable). Flush mounted front LED turn signals and LED 3rd brake light. 4 coats of PPG Torch Red, 4 coats of clear, color sanded and buffed. Ghost flames inside the bed. Pictures really don't do the paint justice.

Engine: 454, built by Budlong Engines (one of the high end shops here). Comp Cams Thumper Cam, gear drive, oval port heads (781 casting), Performer RPM air gap intake, 750 vacuum secondary holley carb, MSD distributor. About 10:1 compression. Runs on 91 octane pump gas, doesn't overheat, The truck is VERY fast, but not too radical that it's not streetable.

Drivetrain: Powerglide, 3500 RPM Hughes converter, narrowed 9" ford rear end with 4:56 gears and traction-lock.

Chassis: Frame has been back-halved with an Art Morrison rear subframe, 33x21.5 Mickey Thompson tires and Weld pro star wheels. Front suspension has been lowered with tubular lower control arms, and 2 inch dropped springs, rebuilt with all polyurethane bushings and converted to Disc brakes.

Interior: Autometer gauges, Custom upholstery, Rockford-Fosgate amp and 10" sub woofer. All new wiring harness. new weather stripping.

Issues: two small chips in the paint, one on the left side of the bed (pictured), and one on the right side of the bed (looks exactly like the one in the picture). One crack in the windshield, about 3" long, on the upper right corner, from when the windshield was installed (pictured) Other than these minor issues the truck is in show condition. Unfortunately the owner does not have time to fix these issues and he needs the truck gone so he is willing to sell it for way less than he has in it.

The truck is also for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Thanks for looking!

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
