'70 C10 Chevy Step Side Truck:

Up for sale is a true 1970 C10 step side pickup with a clean/clear title in my name with all matching numbers ready to transfer.  This truck was built with 2 primary objectives....1) to be as dependable and mechanically sound as possible and 2) have ample character and personality.   You will not find a more dependable better riding or driving C10.  This is a true "turn key" get in and go anywhere truck...no need to bring a trailer to haul it back!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:

The engine was kept stock (with a nostalgic look) as I wanted it to be practical and dependable for everyday driving while getting the best gas mileage that a 350 has to offer.   Truck starts, idles and runs perfectly.  You will not find a more mechanically sound drive train

- Fresh 350 4 bolt main engine(010 casting #s) w/ 350 turbo automatic tranny

-Quadrajet 4 barrel carb

- Weiand intake

-Coated headers w/ Flowmasters (40 series)

-New plugs/wires/oil change...everything in drive train has been recently serviced and is ready to go

-Trans cooler installed

-3 core radiator upgrade…this truck can idle in the desert for days and not run hot

-New passenger inner fender

-New battery

EXTERIOR:

The sheet metal of this truck is in excellent shape(perfectly straight) with all the panels fitting very nicely together.  Notice that this truck has only natural patina due to weathering, but you can add your own touches as you see fit.  There is a small ding in the crease of the front right fender(see pics/video)…easy to fix if you want to “slick” the truck.  This is the only ding in the sheet metal.

All the suspension/steering components of this truck were rebuilt/replaced. This truck is lowered properly with Early Classic components in order to maintain the correct geometry for proper handling and excellent ride.

-Suspension is a complete 4/6 complete drop kit from Early Classic Enterprise that includes 2.5 drop spindles, springs, KYB GR2 shocks w/ relocators, super track bar….this kit provides for a killer stance with awesome ride without any shake or vibration at any speed

-5 lug with New 20” Boss 8.5 front & back wheels w/ Michelin tires....this truck was built to drive so I went with the same size wheels and tires so they could be rotated properly.

-Power Steering & Power Disc Brakes up front with New front calipers/rotors/pads/rear drums and shoes

-Front end professionally lined

-Drive shaft rebuilt with new bearing carrier & universal joints

-Early Classic hidden hitch with adjustable air shocks in the rear for towing/hauling with brake assist hook up

-Sway bar with new  Moog bushings

-Cab mounts are in excellent shape

-Cab corners/rockers/kick panels /all the notorious places for rust on these trucks are in great shape

-GM Bahama blue base coat/ clear coat…..beautiful color....the truck was originally  the stock blue from the factory

-Floor of the bed is showing its age, but again it just adds to the nostalgic appeal of the truck

-Chassis/Undercarriage is in perfect shape...if you need pics, just let me know

-The doors shut as good as a new Chevy truck

-Windows are in great shape and open and roll up/down as they should

-New front and rear bumpers

-All lights/signals work great

-Note that the Shop Logo is superficial to the clear coat, and with a little lacquer thinner, can be removed in about 5 mins.

INTERIOR:

It would be extremely difficult to make the interior of one of these trucks any nicer while maintaining the original integrity of the cab.

-Cab has been insulated with sound mat/jute

-New floor mat

-Original style AM/FM radio with cd/iPod/mp3 upgrade & new speakers...old school look with new technology

- All glass and cab seals are in great shape

-New 3 point(shoulder) seat belts from Brothers …also installed a middle lap belt

-New Houndstooth seat cover

-New gas tank with sending unit

-All glass is in perfect shape

-Windows work great and wing glass opens perfectly

-All gauges work properly

-Floor pans/kick panels are all original and in great shape

Check out the video of this truck on YouTube at

  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0cEQanbzRQ

Overall, this is a beautiful truck that is extremely nice and super clean with a lot of character and personality.  This truck was built to be a shop/patina style truck, but the sheet metal/body on the truck is in such great shape it is ready to block sand and paint if you want a traditional show truck. There is one small ding in the crease of the front passenger fender(see pics./video) and the front bed petition has a slight bend…these quirks add to the overall appearance of the patina style, but if you want to “slick” the truck, they will need to be addressed. If you like the shop/patina style trucks, this one is super nice.  It was not just thrown and pieced together, and if you see it, you will realize the attention to detail that was taken with this truck.  If you have detailed questions about anything with respect to the truck, please do not hesitate to ask.  I understand that it is difficult to buy a truck by looking at pics miles away, but please understand that I have sold through ebay going on 14 years now and have never received a single negative feedback. I encourage anyone interested in this style of truck to come look.  Most vehicles look better in pics than in person.....and trust me, I having driven countless hours with only regret and disappointment at the end of the venture.... but I promise you will not get that experience with this truck.  I guarantee the truck looks better in person than in the pics. I am not trying to hide anything on this truck and encourage anyone interested in a C10 to come look. You are more than welcome to send a 3rd party inspector to assess the truck and make sure it is describe accurately.  If you have any questions or want other pics, please don’t hesitate to ask.  Serious inquires only! A $500 Paypal deposit is due within 48 hrs. at end of auction with balance due within 7 days in cash, wire transfer, or cashier’s check from bank(check will need to be verified before truck is released). If you can't abide by this policy, then please do not make an offer. This is a true 1970 C10 with a Clean/Clear title in my name with matching numbers on the original door tag and glove box….. Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

Chevy Corvette Stingray "colorizer" lets you chase the rainbow

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

After you've convinced your better half to let you buy a new Corvette, then comes the hard part... actually figuring out which 'Vette you want. While Chevrolet has yet to release the official configurator for the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it did give us something else to kill some time playing around with.
The C7 Corvette "colorizer" recently went online, and it lets you look at the car in all of its available colors and wheel options from four different angles so that when this car does go on sale, you know exactly which one you want. It includes the Corvette's full pallet of colors including Torch Red, Laguna Blue and the hue you see above, Velocity Yellow. Toss in the black wheels, and we're sold. If you have some time this afternoon, be sure to check it out the Corvette colorizer for yourself, and even if you don't have the time, we've put together a gallery with all of the possible color combinations.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
