This is a 1972 chevrolet 4x4 LWB truck that will make you smile. Truck has a 8 in. skyjacker lift with skyjacker shocks and stabilizer shocks. This beast will turn heads. I have drove it 160 miles around town and everybody gives a thumbs up while going down the road. Truck has a 350 bored 40 over with a mild cam. 2500 stall, ceramic coated headers, 3 in. dual exhaust run back and turned over axle. derele electric dual fan 4500 cfm, All the aluminum goodies under the hood, TCI 700r4 brute force transmission with transmission cooler bolted to a np208 transfer case. 4.10 gears all new front and rear. New premium Warn Locking hubs. Brand new 38x15.50R15 super swamper SSR tires mounted on 15x14 mickey thompson alcoha wheels. The true old forged aluminum wheels held on with stainless steel lug nuts. Every bolt and bushing was replaced on the frame and body. Every part was stripped down and sand blasted to remove all rust. 90% of this truck was replaced with new parts. Wiring harness, lights, everything in the interior, glass etc. Seamless rockers formed into cab to make the truck look like it came from the factory molded that way. Seat was done in a herring bone white insert with the charcoal grey seat. Head liner was done the same way. seat belts have been changed to harness belts for safety. If you want a nice truck to cruise in or show, This is a nice one for you. The truck will be sold with a bill of sale as Georgia does not tiltle trucks this old. All you need is a copy of my tag receipt and the bill of sale to get a title. I do however have a title dated back to 1975 for the truck which is kinda neat. I never tried to title the truck being I would loose that old title but you will get it with the truck. The A/C on the truck is there. I have not hooked it up yet. You will need to get the A/C lines. I do have a new sanden compressor that goes with it. I just put on a new condensor for the a/c but just never finished it. All the relays, wires and stuff for a/c is new.  I do have step by step restoration pictures that goes with the truck to show what has been done. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I'm not going to list every part replaced on the truck to drag things out. Most of the parts are brand new. Lots of money spent on this truck. You can call me at 678-858-1026. I do reserve the right to end auction early as I have it listed locally. Thank you and happy bidding

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.
